If a system was put in place where people could set that the account was an alt, and these accounts weren't included in rank calculation, would people use it?

I was thinking the exact same thing, and yes, I would use it.

Maybe look like this when registering? (Very bottom part)

If you click yes, a message will be sent to that username saying if this information is correct.
Click yes to that message and the account will be made. Click no and the account will not be made.

Also, if you don't select alt account even if it is, the account gets banned. Something like that.

Also Doss, it's not really an excuse at all lol, some people just want to start the entire game fresh without intending to troll anyone. Teg wasn't a troll at all, it was a 'let's see how fast I can do this a second time around' kinda thing.

That system has a huge flaw. You can just use a proxy and say that you're an alt of someone else.

My idea is simple and it's very practical and easy to manage.

Still don't see the point of unregistered scores. Seems like more pointless work. You play to have your scores automatically recorded but not for the boards?

Next thing after this is people posting SS of alt scores better than their main and everyone starts begging to have it recorded. Alts are pointless to have in any way. This is stupid.

In my opinion, I think the entire scoring system needs a revamp. Many of us aren't too fond of combo based scoring and the presence of alts apparently. By revamping the entire scoring system and implementing a new ranking system, this can easily kill two birds with one stone. An example of a possible system is one that I proposed in the Suggestions Box. It demands PA scoring over combo, and rids unnecessary rank inflation by alts and botters, etc. One month is actually not as long as I expected, so I believe that would be a better way to make this game much more fair.
