How do you play FFR?

One handed, two handed, left handed, right handed?

I'm not very good yet (doubt I'll ever bet TBH), I play right handed (one handed) mostly, but I can actually play some songs well enough left handed (I actually FCed a song left handed, that I repeatedly failed at right handed). Course, that isn't saying much, I'm pretty much stuck around the easy level. I can get pretty close to FCing Canon in Whee (My fave song).

I realized training on harder songs is required, but I can't bring myself to focus on Tricky and Standard difficulty songs (though I do try them occasionally).

So, are you a single/dual hander, left/right hander, and what's your max difficulty?

Play at whatever feels right. I play spread (both hands, 4 fingers using the letter keys instead of the arrow keys) and I can pass every song in the game.

Dont worry about playing harder songs. Just play and youll get better and as you progress youll find the songs you usually play easier. Once that happens, move up a difficulty.

Playing one handed will limit you though to how hard you can go. Songs that are usually "for guru's only" (12) arent possible one handed. Playing spread is the best solution to passing harder songs more quicker and efficiently.

I like Canon in Whee ^_^ My favorite is Johto Wild Pokemon Battle though. Hehe it's fun. And Zodiac

I play with my right hand and can only FC every few Tricky levels. Out of the small handful of Difficult levels I've played, I only ever FCed two of them ;__; And one of them took me forever (H.T.I.J.). The other was Pondering Stuff and I kinda don't even know why it was Difficult. I've played harder Tricky songs o_o

like oni said, spread is your best bet in the long run.

but if you are the type of person that plays for pure fun and has no intention of becoming a competitive player, any type of playing style is suitable

Lol, this wasn't really an advice thread XD

Just asking how people play.

I don't intend to change, I like being a one hander, even if I never get that great, at least I can say "I play it one handed, that counts for something, right?"

I play for fun, after all, it isn't like there is a big market for professional FFR players XD

The one handed style is definitely going to cause me to peak before I can really do well on the upper half of the songs (difficulty that is). I doubt I'd FC anything better than maybe an easy standard one, let alone AAA.

I've played both spread and one-handed. Haven't tried index on ffr specifically but I could.

I'm one handed 3 fingers, with my right hand on the arrow keys.
If you want some inspiration, check out Bynary_Fission - the best one hander on FFR that uses three fingers, I think. Korny's probably the best one hander using four.

EDIT: Just read "max difficulty." Umm I can pass any song (I'm fairly certain, but there are some I haven't played), FC some VC's and one FMO (Silence), and AAA up to VD's.

Johto Wild Pokemon Battle is another Purchased song. I'm almost positive it's the same price as Canon in Whee (400 credits?). Around the same difficulty too ("Easy" or so).

Zodiac is in Dance 1, don't know which page though. It's a Tricky. I thought it was really fun, and somehow I smashed the orange notes well enough to combo them first try >

When I used to play I mostly played index when I had my desktop. Ever since I got my laptop last year I started to play spread. zx./ is the set up I used. I got slightly better when I started playing spread but index was better for PA imo.

That's not really that strange at all. Ask Plan_Bsk how he plays, that's strange.

I do spread. u, k, numpad5, numpad9. My max difficulty is FGO. How well I can play any given level is a different story.

Uhmmm i used to be a one hander (i could AAA up to lvl 7s)

then i switched to spread, and my PA isnt quite there yet, but i can definately pass more songs a lot easier.

there arent TOO many limits to one handing seeing as the best one hander has already AAAd an FMO (four fingered is different)

PS rb quackies has switched to spread.

and uhh either korny or irionman is best 4 fingered...irionman usually plays four fingers but some of his scores are spread so its hard to say.
