    Radio Heads

Hello, I haven't played for a while. I just remembered that I like this song a lot, and I wanted to know which game it is from.

Best AAA: Frictional Nevada (Done while FFR was out, so it doesn't show in my level stats)

Resting. I might restart playing FFR seriously someday.

Did you think it was something to the likes of Ridge Racer?

It's not one of S.S.H.'s game music covers I take it?

It's from S.S.H. but I can't find any info on possible game origins. It might just be an original.

So, why is it on arcade? Wasn't it supposed to be on the rock genre?

I don't know. If no one can come up with evidence that the song came from a game, then it should be placed in the rock genre.

But then every Virt song should be moved too, no?

                  Re: Radio Heads

Apparantly arcade has become a conglomerate of 'songs that sound like they're from a game (ex. 8-bit, chiptune)' and 'sonds that are from a game or a remix thereof'

FFR's genre system could use a rework at some point.

like patashu said basically I put every song that sounds like a game music in Arcade genre, not only game remixes.

That makes sense though. Where else is it going to go - Miscellaneous?

I have an error to report though: Kire Kire Mayoi is a remix of Youmu Konpaku's battle theme from one of the Touhou games, making it a game remix, not an anime remix. And it's currently placed in the rock genre.

The music is obviously remix of hare hare yukai, lyrics are from touhou.

                          Re: Radio Heads

The conundrum we're having in categorizing songs into the Arcade genre can be attributed to:
                          1) determining if the song originated from a game at all, but more importantly
                          2) determining if the game-remixed song deserves to be in the arcade genre

It would certainly help if the genre "Arcade" was more well-defined. I believe Synthlight intended this genre to pertain to mainly classical games we know and love, like Mario. As of current, as jimerax said, any game-sounding songs and just about all game remixes are being added to the Arcade genre. However, there's an increasing number of songs that are coming from more obscure games, and I'm afraid that adding every game-remixed song will distort the recognition of an actual Arcade genre.
To the general public, a good number of songs in this genre are hardly recognizable and would be better off being listed as a different genre altogether. That's really my main concern.
I'd appreciate any new ideas to redistribute the songs in the Arcade genre, or ideas that would serve to give more recognition to the games that each remix comes from.

Would something as simple as renaming Arcade to something like Game placate your fears?

Rather than creating a new genre, I think renaming Arcade to be a bit more broad and encompassing can settle any confusion about where some files are supposed to go and what to expect in a certain genre.
