Re: I've played over 7500+ games, and I still suck!

I've been playing SM for over a year and FFR for about half a year and I've never AAA'ed a song but I can play expert 13+ o.o trust me everyone has something theyre not good at, for example when I started I played one hand but after about a mounth I tried two hand and Im significantly better at two hand, so try changing you style or the keys you use if your two hands. For example use keys wide apart for two hand (i always think that works best) so your hands are not crushed up together (try A,S,Up Key,Right Key. Works for me but might not nessaseraly work for you, just a suggestion) or change the speed your playing at to faster or slower and play songs slightly harder, then when they become easy move onto more difficult ones. BUT the difficulty rated on the song depends on the simfile artist (they may rate them low and the simfile is hard or vice versa) but still the main thing you should do is PRACTICE! ^^

People are stupid. Play spread. Odds are, you'll be better.

If you want to improve the fastest, you need to improve in progressions.

In other words, don't take on stuff that's levels and levels above you. Dominate the 6's before moving onto 7's, etc. Hoping to dominate 10's, for instance, without learning to master 8's and 9's is going to waste a lot of time. You'll get there more quickly if you take baby steps. Otherwise you'll develop these weird mental blocks/'skill gaps' that are really hard to unlearn because you were greedy and tried to bite off more than you could chew. If you do things right from the start, take it slow, and develop a stronger BASE SKILL before trying to tack on the bells and whistles, you'll improve fast.

We might as well call this the FFR Biography Thread. So while we're at it...

I started with index, got pretty fast at it (I could keep up with Vertex Beta...but then my arms would explode). Jumpstreams are ridiculously hard though using index and not much easier with 3 fingers, so i changed to spread. I'm not as fast on long streams with spread but other patterns are way easier so i think it evens out. I can FC every VD song that I can think of, and I'm starting to ace challenging more consistently, but not enough.

P.S. To anyone who is any good using only one hand....how is that possible?

They're just ignorant people who feel if they get good that have to do it the hard way.

playing stepmania/ffr one-handed or index is a completely different experience from playing it spread.

In my opinion, one handers who stay one handers are stubborn people who refuse to change their ways for the sake of themselves.

              Their loss.

I'm better than almost all one handers[i can't see any that are right now], and whenever i beat their score, their excuse is: "WELL UR SPREAD DUH U'LL BE BETTER THAN ME." If that's their excuse, they should train to be spread.

My advice, go spread or index. Or even one handed spread.

After playing this game for 2.5 years im only looking in the forums now.
I'm a one-handed player it just feels better. I've just learned about more popular ways to play and see patterns better today(speed mods, etc.). So for all of the people who are attacking one-handers please stop!

we are NOT stubborn people who refuse to change their ways for the sake of themelves...i TRIED spread and index, but overall, i found i was better at one hand, i have more accuracy and find it a lot easier. also, i know a one hander who can AAA heaps of FMO's and FGO's...i could probably name about 10 one handers who'll be better than you. just cause you dont like one handers doesnt mean u should try make things up about why they are ignorant stubborn people

It's a physical limit. There's only so much you can do with one hand -- only so much strain you can take. Two hands distributes the load and allows for quicker taps with higher volume. You can obviously hit more with two hands than one hand. You also reduce the risk of carpal tunnel by quite a bit.

It doesn't matter how good you are one-handed... you can be better with two. To say otherwise is... well, stupid. I'm not saying you shouldn't play that way if you find it fun, but if you're playing for the purpose of getting better and playing harder songs, you need both hands.

I was talking about the experiences i had bolth. i never said it was simply fact and true.

                      Also, well said Rubix.
