Re: Gamewhore Competition #2 - Lowest Average Rank
Hmm...which songs are worth more in terms of average rank...secret or purchased.
anyones strategy would probably be - Get as many credits as you can while going through the songlists and then play as many secret songs as possible before the time limit before purchasing the more higher ranked songs (stay with me, neomax) and playing those.
Re: Gamewhore Competition #2 - Lowest Average Rank
My first post =)
I won't be taking part in this, as I have something on that day, but here's what I would suggest, for those of you with programming (scripting language) abilities:
-Start a new account. Take note of the levelranks of everything.
-Write a script that probes every single song and find out the song length (the length's given in the song's page).
-Divide the (levelrank - 1) by the length. This tells you roughly how much rank you are getting per second on that song, assuming you AAA.
-Sort in decreasing order.
Of course, this assumes that you *will* AAA the song, but I suppose you can always correct for that during the actual competition itself.
After all, the key limiting factor here is time, not skill (assuming you're sufficiently skillful), because I don't think 24 hours is sufficient time to play every song in the game - could be wrong, though.
Re: Gamewhore Competition #2 - Lowest Average Rank
Who thinks I can cut a AAA on every VC or lower song in 4 hours?
I don't... =(, damn why did this have to be on my concert day?
I WANNA PLAY I WANNA I WANNA I Wanna i wanna ... T_T

Theoretically, you could gamble up to ~130k credits and get every purchased/secret song, and AAA them all in 1 try in 24 hours (Total length of all public songs is 22:52:37 right now, but I'd add 10-12 mins for the next round's songs in the official tournament). However, actually doing so would require both insane gambling luck and skill more godly than anyone on FFR currently has.
It's still an interesting bit of trivia though.
Tass hasn't yet established any restriction on transferring credits. Until then, I'd assume that would be the quick fix for obtaining secret songs.
With less than one hour (or 3,600 seconds) and around a thousand public songs, for each one (assuming you play once and FC with decent PA) you would have to average below 3.6 seconds to get from the results screen to the next song. Under the estimate of about a second or so to get to the sort menu, you have roughly two seconds to look around and click. Of course, the beginning songs would be located more quickly than those at the end, so you would have about 1 second from the start of the former and 3 seconds from end of the latter (with everything in between being theoretically distributed evenly).
That being said, I highly doubt anyone will manage to play every song.
One crucial thing to bear in mind for participants is that this competition will not be about AAA'ing. With most songs bearing an initial rank in the tens of thousands, any song left untouched by the competition's conclusion will add a significant (or more specifically, initial rank / # of public songs) to the player's average. Ten AR points may not seem like much, but that translates to 10,000 ranks. To compensate for that, a player would have to score an average of ~10 ranks better than otherwise on EVERY SINGLE SONG.
Example:
Suppose FFR has 1,000 ranked public songs.
P1 has played 1,000 songs.
P2 has played 990 songs.
They both score an average of 100 on songs played.
On the 10 untouched songs, P2 has an average rank of 10,000.
P1 has 100,000 total rank points.
P2 has 99,000 + 10 * 10,000 = 199,000 total rank points.
The difference is 99,000 rank points distributable over 990 songs.
The average rank shift needed to offset the loss is therefore 99,000 / 990 = 100 average rank points.
What that means is, in order to simply tie P1 (who gets a rank of about 100 on every song), P2 has to get a rank-0 on every single song he/she plays. That player would need nine-hundred ninety rank-0's. He/she would need 990 rank-0's. That's as many as ninety-nine tens. And that's terrible.
It looks like P2 should have tried to play those ten extra songs. >_>

-Your username for the competition will be in the format: “GWC_YourUsername”, where YourUsername is your username. Aka, mine would be GWC_Tasselfoot. Please do not use abbreviations, as it will only confuse me and make my life harder. -You are not allowed to transfer credits to your GWC account… all secret/purchased songs will have to be played via credits you earn during the 24 hours. That makes it equally fair to everyone, and makes the competition have a bit more strategy.
-Whoever has the lowest average rank at the end of 24 hours will win.
-All GWC accounts will be blacklisted at the end of the 24 hours, so we don’t spam up the highscore lists from the competition.
