ok I played blue-violet for the sake of comparing it to mine
beginning was really cool, but as soon as it goes into the beat thing it's plain and obvious that percussion construction is horrendously poor. piano is layered quite badly, and patterns weren't very nice. the jacks were a good idea, just used ineffectively. most of the file was just really dumpy, weird, and amateurish.
sorry, but I have no f*cking idea how this beat my file out

you're stargroup and the judges don't like layering properly
heh, I love to bash the judges but stargroup yours was too technical and not as fun. You had better technicals, obviously, but it seemed "canned." you know?
yes I do admit mine was somewhat technical but the parts without the left-down thing on the left hand were very cool imo. bmah kinda dumped 8th notes in the rests which was really stupid. I really liked my layering in the end though, the 16th note jumpstream runs. it's something you don't really see in many files at all. also, bmah's feels emptier compared to mine without a constant drive.
I could change the file and actually make the left hand thing varied and fun but I was too lazy to take the time, so it ended up like that.

I don't get how lazyness works in stepfile making... If you realize that a part can be bettered, wouldn't you just change it? I mean, from what I see on the batch discussion threads etc., it seems that stepfile artists have a lot of time to make their files. The better the files, the greater the chance that your file gets accepted and your work wouldn't be in vain.
Not that I've made any stepfile contributions to FFR, but just stating my logic. <_<

つまんないシグでスマソ(´・ω・`)
I think what he meant by "laziness" was that he was unwilling to cater the pattern to the fun FFR style rather than just straight technicality. A lot of times it's much easier to make something technical and un-fun than making it fun while still retaining PR or whatever.
That's just a guess, but that's definitely my experience.

What are you talking about?
P.S. Played your version of Blue-Violet, IMO sucks massively compared to Silvuh's because the "constant drive" of the simfile is "constantly boring".
