arcade really is meant for the old console remixes. touhou, as jx said, is really borderline.

and, IMO, stuff that doesn't sound like arcade or sounds more appropriate in another genre, should go in another genre. that's why i had originally put some of the touhou stuff in rock or elsewhere.

and the hentai game stuff... that's just not arcade. leave it where it is.

actually, there are a lot of songs that are in the wrong catagory as well as a new catagory that should of been made such as DNB/jungle and Breakcore. There.... that got rid of most of the mis files.

I can give examples on what songs go where

and how is necropotence touhou. Thats gabba/speedcore.

It's a remix of Necrofantasia. I think. Not really too noticeable.

            Hentai games are games.
All I know is that CRASH the Beat is a GoSW remix, but is GoSW a remix of something?

Anyways, I agree that hgame are games.

Btw, I really don't understand the D2 genre, does Setsujou! Hyakka Ryouran, Lawn wake or eclipse etc. got something to do with Dance? (oh and talking about Setsujou, what's Electronic Dance pop ?)

Remix of Going on from Atlach=Nacha or something like that.
S.S.H. has made several remixes of the song too.

I thought E-Dance Pop was Ethno-Dance Pop. (Japanese ethnic music)

They made an attempt... they moved Touhou to arcade, and Venetian Snares to misc. Attempt.

Then again, how would we sort these songs WITHOUT making new genres? <_< I can't answer that, so I haven't complained or stopped complaining about it (I think).

I don't remember whether this was answered or not, but what is Touhou 2? These "styles" bother me.

Then arcade would disappear, wouldn't it? It depends on what you would describe arcade music with. There are 8-bit songs that aren't game related, and there are rock songs that are game related. Therefore, arcade should be a genre where all music related to games are placed.

Arcade music=music associated with games. What one would usually call 8-bit/16-bit aren't arcade. They just happened to be what was first used in the more primitive games.

Recently there are many game music that can fall under rock and classic. There would be no boundary line if we went by style.

I am under the impression that making new genres is difficult, because people have told me so. But now that I think about it, Token, Skill, and Support came in, so is it really not possible to make more genres? There are a few notable styles of music that can fill up another genre.

The genre system as it is is utterly arbitrary, but discerning the actual genre of 600 some different songs and forming a brand new category system - well, it'd take a while.

I can make a list of songs from Dance and Misc that can form 1 or 2 larger new genres. It isn't necessary to do everything at once, but little by little, we can make subtle changes.

Music pertaining to anime, or containing anime into one. (Probably goes against jimerax's idea of a "genre")

I don't know what it's called, but Venetian Snares and The Flashbulb type music into another.

We can brainstorm ideas, accept some, refute some, and list the songs. One thing we should ascertain is whether genre will be based on common style (how jimerax defines genre) or common theme (like the current arcade).

Also, this is a job we, the users, can do. Sure, only admins can make the actual changes, but we can do everything we can to help them, right? <_<

We can start by making a separate thread, I guess. I would, but I have no means of maintaining it during my stage of life. I half-gave up on all of my others.

Anime isn't too good with the same reason as Arcade/Game.

Dance can have more sub-genres before we make Dance3, like DnB, Trance,Pop, etc.
