So Tasselfoot, you're suggesting Death Piano won't be the hardest song anymore?

Hey, didn't I do something like this a while back? Yes, I did: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...ad.php?t=87540

Pretty much the same thing, only this thread allows for more discussion because that was only for new songs.

            Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread

I've gotten permission from artists that would make harder simfiles than most.

I mean, go play minion & cetaka's RATO. Terminal 11 has a bunch more that would make insane files.

About index files, the patterns are pretty and fun in most cases but it gets kind of drab.

About song length I usually think that if a song is just going to either repeat itself exactly or go in a different (crappier steppage) direction then it needs to be cut.

Who am I to talk though?

              Re: Ingame Songs/Stepfiles Discussion Thread

I usually am against cutting songs because generally it breaks the flow of the music. a song cut works better the lower the quality of the music IMO. You can't even tell Back in the Day was cut, because it's rap and doesn't really progress, so skipping a verse doesn't really change the song. But if I had cut IDNYA it would've broken the flow of the song and killed its intensity, and while I prefer not to step long/repetitive stuff, in that case I had to do the whole song to keep the intensity of the music.

No, didn't sound like it. Good job, Electric Werewolf.

On another subject, lots of songs - even new ones -are offbeat. Songs like Pwntendo need to be fixed.

Edit: Another thing - in response to bmah, yes. Unlike StepMania, there aren't any songs on FFR that are ridiculously difficult to pass (excluding vrofl, of course). Death Piano with avmisses was the only song that I recall that I had trouble passing. Now, without avmisses, it's FC'able.

I believe that there's no difference between the 32nd burst on 800c and the 32nd burst on 1100c or so in Szerencsetlen. However, I always get a good on the 1100c burst. Can anyone speculate as to why?

Maybe 'cause you now dread that part and anticipate it, only to mess up every time. Sometimes, when I keep messing up on a certain part (i.e. the fast rolls on Pimp Slap or the weird 32nd parts on Ska Cha Cha), I know the part that I missed is coming soon. Therefore, by anticipating it, I screw it up.

There're repetitive songs that need songcut in the game, but as for "recent" long songs I have a feeling that they are fine as they are.

Death Piano is only 95/99 in difficulty, we still need uber hard files in 96-98 range (no dump of course).

We would also need 91-94 range, because it jumps from 90, 95, 99. Unless I'm mistaken.

you really don't need anything harder than death piano

also to be honest lunatic princess is really boring. I love behan and all, but it was just a bad file. first of all, it's pretty normal for a dbu song, so it really should've been cut. the steps were just horribly generic. I would've stepped the rhythm guitars or something :/

also, in my simfile awards list I don't have many step authors. if you guys could go recommend some more people or something >_>

can't try anything out until friday but at least it'll be there so I'd know

Ride Out was cut a lot and it is still a great song with great steps. One of my favorites, but when a song just repeats and repeats as time wears on, it just isn't as fun. The Brain Of The Moon is a fantastic song with great steps, another of my favorites, but it almost goes on too long. The second half of that song is almost identical to the first half. Thus, it makes the song long and boring instead of short and inventive.
