DBZ is not good anime, plain and simple. It's long and drawn out to the point where you wonder if anything will EVER happen. And there's like millions of stupid kiddies that name themselves after a DBZ character or some stupid crap like that. I've never encountered another person online that uses this username, and I've encountered VERY VERY few people that make reference to what my username makes reference to with their names.
The moral of the story is, I'm original, you're not, and I don't give a fuck what you think of me, I still think DBZ is stupid and you're stupid for naming yourself after it.

Someone would have come up with the idea sooner or later, DBZ or no DBZ. You can't say "if it wasn't for this, this NEVER would have happened!" because that's not how the world works. For all you know there could have been a potential anime series way before DBZ where people used energy as a weapon and it got axed before being produced.
That's like saying "if it weren't for Thomas Edison, we wouldn't have light bulbs". It's pretty clear that that statement is false to anyone who has enough brainpower to draw breath
