It's not the best solution, as if he really did get hacked, it is possible that the hacker transferred them him/herself. The only way this does anything is if that nothing shows up in the logs, then either there is a bug or somebody did something and actually hacked the account.
In addition, if you've shared passwords or anything resembling that, you won't get anything back.
