Agree with this but why does it matter? They're different engines and I enjoy playing his files on both.

lol, so every song should be spread then despite a large number of FFR files having been made for index? While the current pedantic "see how condescending I can make myself appear to give my totally subjective opinions an air of authority" simfile aristocracy on SM (stargroup, Yesssss, IAmMe, others) is largely spread, FFR is still playable by indexers for the most part and only a few songs demand spread usage. If anything, FFR is a multi-style game where you have to adapt to using different styles for different songs.

I can hear those sounds pretty easily, personally. But this isn't a battle of who can hear what--you're basically saying that every file has to have rhythms mapped in one universal style, which I disagree with. Some of the most fun files I've played have superfluous or unnecessary rhythms thrown in.

I agree with you about the color issue but what's wrong with stepping songs in your style? It's no different than chart makers who step songs in spread, which is the most uncompromising way to step files in because almost every spread file has to be played on spread or nothing else. I'm going to mostly step files on index because 1) I don't find spread files fun for the most part even when I play them on spread 2) I find index more fun.

Don't really agree or disagree with your other points.

edit: Also stargroup seriously needs to stop fronting his authoritative internet tough guy personality. I know it's more attractive to see things in black and white versus gray ("this is is bad" versus "I don't like this") but believing that an opinion or preference can be objective is like believing in superstitions or myths. The idea that preferences can be objective should have been beaten out of you when you took a biology class and learned about taste and how it differs from person to person. If preferences were truly objective then this argument wouldn't occur, people wouldn't play files you deem bad, everyone would like the same art/entertainment and music and fashions wouldn't exist. I mean, geez, preferences can differ in terms of what type of people of the opposite sex you find attractive and if anything that should be the most objective type of preference of all due to how it factors in natural selection. The only objective factor I've noticed in a file's fun factor throughout the years seems to be whether its rhythms vaguely follow the music, which encompasses virtually every file on FFR and nearly every popular file on SM. If you were right in your arguments then unless you have serious personality issues you probably wouldn't need to constantly back up your argument with flames or obnoxiousness.
