Re: Cool favor someone could maybe do for me
Simple files like, say, Endless Dream or EternuS, will only take me like 30 minutes usually. Something a bit more complicated like Midnight Dragon takes a few hours. Really complicated stuff, well, I don't do that haha. The longest I've ever spent on a file was Pollinosis, it took like 6 hours total.
I'm no pro at file making either, ask ODI for tips really. Or don't, that might be safer...
But a few pointers:
-Make a lot of files. For each one of the 50 or so files that I've released, I've started syncing then abandoned 3 files and half finished then abandoned another 2.
-Step music you like. Otherwise you'll get sick of it, and fast!
-Constant BPMs are your friend when starting and when you just want to make lots of files, but it's good to learn how to sync variant BPMs eventually.
-Varied rhythms are cool, so are holiday colored notes. Learn how to use both correctly. (Hint: I use holiday notes wrong, i.e. where they aren't supposed to be XD. Glove and Kil use them right, as in, technical cool stuff)
-Develop a style. Learn how to do ubertechnical layering, index patterns, one-handed bias files, fast IDM drumming files, etc. Then, pick which one you get the best responses on and learn to do it really well!
-If you get bored, stop.
-If you think it sucks, chances are it does.
-If it sucks, don't release it.
