Thanks so much for this oppertunity to get my music into the game, guys.

PS- I'd like that fancy "FFR Music Producer Title," if it's not too much.
Edit: Just played it. I love how the arrows went along with the guitar. It's a very nice touch.

Love should not have been understepped because it still is even taking into account what EW was doing when he stepped it and for an excellent song like that it shouldn't have been that understepped. Mind you if I was to make a v2 for it, it'd very likely be a layered-type overjumped file that I would want to see based on the music.

Underground was boring because of it's repetitive nature but okay I guess.

        Matador was pretty fun.

I find it funny how the only people that don't have a problem with the file, are the people that have been here for years. It is only the people that have joined after 2005 that seem to be with the intention of making this game be less unique than what it is. So if you're one of these people... then I suggest you give up on trying to change this game, or leave.

I was talking about layering and pitch relevance in the context of actually having the song be counter-intuitive to play. I don't even -play- stepmania, I haven't even played DDR in almost 8 months. Don't take every single objection to any song you personally like and assume that everyone is coming from the same place with it.

When you have to sit there and let notes just pass because the pattern took you completely by surprise, as being nothing like you thought it would be given the song and the patterns around it, I think it is a reasonable -personal opinion- to state that you didn't like it for that reason. It looks like you went in and deleted a bunch of posts that were critical of the file...shouldn't this be renamed the FFRmas appreciation thread then?

Re: 2nd Annual FFRmas Discussion Thread

I looked through this thread post by post like 4 times, the post I made, that I am completely sure I made, which raised several of the points that rebirth0 came out so strongly against, isn't here.

Obviously if there were deleted posts, you'd know, so I guess somehow my post ended up looking like it was made but somehow wasn't. In that case, my apologies to Rebirth0, I was simply reacting to what it looked like had happened. If I was actually a proper full moderator, I'd have been able to see whether there were deleted posts too *grin*

However, my point stands right up until I mention the deleted posts. People are allowed to prefer certain elements in stepfiles, and should be able to say so without an accusation that they "want FFR to be SM"

I'm a musician, I prefer pitch relevance and logical pattern layering because I'm a musician, not because "I want FFR to be less unique"

I'd Love to see that file.

Because I really don't like the file in the game. It seems like the steps only went to that back beat and the guitar. The piano and other melodies were seemingly completely ignored.

As for Underground... it's too bad this song is ungodly repetitive. There were some jumps I didn't agree with, but that's my only complaint. You can't complain about repetitiveness in a stepfile if the song itself is that repetitive.
Haha... I stepped a (different) song called Underground once, and it was rejected for being too repetitive. Well, look what we have here.

Matador was pretty sweet. The jump placement was spot on. I can't say anything about the long 16th stream, though, 'cause I'm not good at critiquing things like that.

Actually, I think I probably will make a v2 of it. Even if it's just for Resonance.

You know, I really liked this file as well. I liked how it went away from the jacks though because the music changed slightly so I felt the change in stepping matched it well.

Technical files can be way fun. They can also be way unfun and boring. IMO, layer correctly when it matters the most and do PR patterns when it matters the most.

So far I've liked the files, Teh Tricky Techno made me lol but I liked the freeform patterns, I think they went well to the music rhythmically.

Rebirth's file was kinda fun but overall it was feh.

I didn't care much for Underground because a lot of the rhythms were weird (the steps not the song).

Matador was really well stepped, very fun. One of these times I'm gonna step some old artist, quadruple (or whatever it takes) the bpm and then force BNS just for giggles.

Okay, there has to be some legal minimum for amount of sleep to play FFR.

I started Love the first time, and I did some <v gallop jump (not even a jump gallop) instead of a ^ on the first note, then tried hitting the escape key repeatedly to boo out. o.o Decent song, decently stepped. It was easy once I stopped trying to hit escape, but I'm not going for the AAA anytime soon.

If I'm too tired to remember how to boo out, I'm certaintly not going to do well on the other songs. Gonna go sleep and play them tomorrow. X_x Man, there needs to be a makeapotofcoffee button on computers. D=

Indigo - I didn't really like the way you switched from sound to sound so quickly. It feels awkward, you should avoid doing it. Otherwise, ok file, nothing uber, but it will suffice.

Lost - Damn, starfalcon, I love your files. This is fun! It gets a little repetitive towards the end, but otherwise it's great. Varied rhythms and patterns, keep it up.

Read The Mind - Can't you release one of my harder files?

Floating - Simple, short, and fun. Nothing tricky at all here, does it even have jumps? And since when did we have permission from MC Frontalot? oh and hi dore.

P.S. AAA'd everything sightread. More harder filez pl0x

EDIT: Okay, you're totally right about Lost, dore. That's what I get for not wearing headphones, and keeping the volume lower >_>

Bah, I still like it, but I'm not picky at all.

I got Frontalot a while back.

Indigo was kinda meh, it was alright but felt pretty understepped. Some of the background stuff would've made for some nice layering but instead you stuck with the melody most of the time, which might have worked if the melody was more of a musical presence. As it was, what you were stepping blended in with the background stuff and made it hard to tell what the arrows were going to.

Lost I thought was going to be great. The beginning was great, I don't get where you came up with those jumps but they're really fun. I was pumped, the file was getting good. The song built up to its climax, and here comes a jumpstream... and... wait now it's not jumpstream even though this parts more intense. The song intensifies... AND... the steps are easier than before. It felt like there could've been more incorporation of the moving parts in the background. But it's okay, when the piano inevitably comes back in it'll layer nicely for a great finish... and... you ignore the piano and only step the other melody (even when that part had long rests). The file just kinda died from there. It made me sad, the first half had me going.

Floating Bridge: 1-finger AAA lol (there's no jumps)

Read the Mind was nothing special, but good for a simple file like that. The only change I would make is to put arrows to the bass drum in the section where there's the jumps to all the snare drum hits towards the end. I really like the song.

Lost was amazing. A bit understepped, but the song was awesome and file was still fun nonetheless.

Read the Mind was done as perfect as it could have possibly been, imo. The song doesn't give much to work with stepfile-wise, but it is an amazing song. :P

No comment on Indigo and Floating Bridge. They are nice additions though.

Nothing like 4 AAA's to start the night.

Lost was my first Very Difficult AAA, so I'm pretty happy about that, and the rest I found to be pretty easy.

Good songs all around, and pretty good stepfiles too.

P.S. Tass, go fix your blackflag on Lost.
