Honestly, if your mother thinks you're spending too much time on it, she might be right. Turning off the computer might be a little drastic without warning, but it is generally not a bad idea to listen to your parents.

She may or may not be right. You should be able to do whatever you like to do on the computer within reason but like I said earlier take breaks from the computer. Moderation is key to everything in life. If being on the computer is keeping you from making new friends you should spend less time on the computer and make some friends. Your mom may not be right, but she has her reasons so reason with her.
