Beginner, I'd almost certainly AAA my way all the way through until it came down to constant tiebreakers. Advanced I would have been out in round 1.

I'm prepared to accept that the best fit for me was in a division where I'm not going to win.
To be honest devonin I think that Sprite- made a good judgement by placing me in intermediate. Before the division list came out I though I would be to good for intermediate. But now that I'm playing it's much harder than I though. Well, good luck to you.

Here's the thing though, if Sprite- made a good choice putting you in intermediate do you think he made a bad choice putting me in intermediate? I don't think he did. I also think that the skill difference between you and I is pretty close to the skill difference between heyitsme and the people he's saying have no business being in his division.

Sh*t I think with heyitsme skill he should be placed in Advanced. He way outta my league.

          Re: About the Tournament

See this is the problem when you're inside the tourney. Heyitsmee says he is "pure intermediate" and that intermediate has people enough better than him that they should be advanced. And yet you, who are also intermediate also think -he- is one of the people enough better that they should be in advanced.

The trick is to realise that out of 218/420/626 there were, in all honesty, maybe 20/30/50 people in there who actually had what you would call a "reasonable" chance to win. For the other 1164 people, it was pretty much a foregone concluision going in, that they were losing as soon as the eliminations hit a large enough number.

The next trick to realise is that this is true of all freely enterable competitions. If the original 1264 people all had to do one or two rounds of qualifiers so that only the top say 128 of each division even got to -start- the tourney, objections that the divisions are imbalanced would make a lot more sense.

Edit: Going to the earlier suggested idea of public appeals to the division before the tourney starts: That's a -terrible- idea for the following reasons:

The vast majority of appeals will be "Person that isn't me, and in my division, is better than me, move them up"

Even if you only allow people to protest their own ranking, you'll see a 90/10 breakdown of "move me down/move me up"

People will not be realistic and honest with themselves, they will instead try to maximize their chance of winning.

Well, what happened with me is that I played for a bit in 2004 or whatever it was, then stopped. Then I recently started playing again with SM, got substantially better (but still not that great), and registered in the tournament here, so there was a huge jump between those two times, and I was placed in Beginner.

Although I wouldn't be able to AAA any of the Intermediate songs other than the first ones without maybe 100 tries, so the placing still works.

Welp, I'm done with this. Hopefully I do good in the tourney.
