Re: Simple Alternative for Key Remapping

Did you add a disable arrow keys option to this version? I didn't see it in the notes, and I didn't want to get the new version if there wasn't anything new to it, other than the other controller support or w/e.

Which version do you have? You have to have to have a little higher version, like 5 or higher i think, to have that option.

Kaijin: What do you mean disable arrow keys - do you mean remap the cursors to other keys and make the cursors no longer register at all?

I was logged on to Kaijin's account when I made that post.

Anyway, if by remapping the cursors to other keys, you mean what the program all ready does. Then yes, if something new, no.. but I am asking for an option to disable the cursors(arrow keys?) so my hand doesn't accidently hit an arrow key while I'm playing and get a boo.

A little update of my remapping proggy following RoastedNoob's suggestion:

The latest version (1.11) can ignore the real cursor keys, preventing accidental presses. You can still use the cursors as part of your remap though. The setting is off by default.

Also fixed a bug that slipped into recent versions - you can now have Boo Out and Try Again on the same key/button making restarting that tiny bit easier...

Is there a reason why when I press the button I set for "try again," my browser closes? I use Firefox by the way.

, and I cannot hit two arrows at once. It might just be my mat since no one else seemed to have this problem.

Yeah, I guess that could be why no one else has that problem. ^_^ Hah

Well he did say you can use a mat, and that you can stay on an arrow while hitting others. Unfortunately I cannot do either without getting constant boos.

This is epic. You've saved my FFR life.

Ever since I switched over to Vista, I couldn't play FFR worth crap (I used AHK). For the hell of it, I tried your version, and omg, I don't suck anymore (minus the random misses). I'm going to post a link to this over in the Vista Sucks forum so my Vista brothers can rejoice.

I don't think I blame Vista for my suck now, I think it was the way it ran .exe files.

Commandersa1: It's possible that your pad is part of the problem. Some pads report the left/right and up/down arrows as joystick axes. That means the left pad is like pushing left on a joystick, similarly with the right pad. Since you can't push a joystick left and right at the same time, it cannot handle the left and right pads pressed at the same time. Same for up and down. Other combinations will work though.

You can tell if this is happenning by looking at what it says in the boxes underneath the remapping buttons. If you see something like "J0 X+" & "J0 X-", or perhaps "J0 POV0-W" & "J0 POV0-E", then this is your issue. A better pad reports the pads as buttons, you would see something like "J0 B5" or similar. The only pad I've seen with this problem also had 4 diagonal arrows, all reported properly as buttons, so by spinning it by 45 degrees they could be used instead.

Could you tell me what the program says your remappings are (all six values), then I might be able to work out your problem? Also what pad are you using?

Repeated boo-outs when holding really shouldn't happen - does it occur consistently?

I have noticed occasional odd behaviour with Try Again, I haven't been able to track down the problem. But it usually can be fixed by switching the mapping off and on again (hit the big "On" button twice).

I don't know how this is happening, but somehow you can still use the arrows to move the pages around, but not boo with in-game. o.O Lucky coding choice of FFR.

...but I do have one problem. Kinda about my didn't want a new version for this reason topic. >.< ..but I have to reset my hotkeys back to their letters and remap it to Firefox every time I open it. Your older version would find Firefox, save the keys, and be ready to go right from the open. Any way to get this one to do the same?
