Alright. No more Mr. Nice Guy. I am not going to throw such easily-solved questions at you anymore. It's time to kick it up a notch and test your physics, statistics, math, and chemistry knowledge. No gimmicks or tricks here -- just problems to solve. Good luck. Any decimal answers should be rounded to the nearest whole number with the exception of Challenge #6 which requires a step to remain in decimal form in order to get a whole number solution.
Challenge #1
Let's Chem it up: _Al + xCuO = _Al2Oy + _Cu
What is x * y?
Challenge #2
There is a rock made of Tasselfoot. It weighs 2.5 kilograms and it moves at a constant speed of 8.06225775 meters/second about a circle of radius 5 meters. What is Tasselfoot's acceleration in m/s^2?
Challenge #3
You have a triangle, UVW. Sides UV and UW are equal in length. Now assume there is a line from W to side UV called WX, and a line from V to side UW called VY. Now suppose there is another line connecting X and Y -- call it XY. Angle YVW is 60 degrees, angle VWX is 70 degrees, angle UVY is 20 degrees, and angle XWY is 10 degrees. What is the degree of angle YXW?
Challenge #4
There is a room occupied by some people who decide to shake hands with everybody else only once. 28 handshakes took place -- how many people were there?
Challenge #5
MrRubix stands still and watches Magirocker blast by with a velocity of 0.866025404c. Randomly, MrRubix starts a timer and counts off a certain number of seconds and then stops the timer. At this instant (with respect to Magirocker's inertial timeframe), from Magirocker's perspective, his own timer shows 2 seconds. How many seconds did MrRubix count off?
Challenge #6
MrRubix enjoys a nice deck of cards. He draws one card, notes what it is, and then throws it aside. He then draws a second card, takes note of it, and also tosses it aside. He then calls his friend Bayes and asks what the probability is that the second card was a spade given that the first card's suit was black. Bayes calculates the answer and is ready to give it in decimal form, but instead chooses to be an ass, giving MrRubix the answer by giving him the sum of the 1st, 2nd, and 5th numbers to the right of the decimal in his answer. What was that sum?
Challenge #7
Emerald000 stands at the top of a building firmly, holding a taut rope of negligable mass. At the end of the rope is Bangcrashboom, who weighs 140 pounds and is standing on another building. The rope is 0.0496473799 meters long. Bangcrashboom lets himself fall off the building while Emerald000 continues to hold onto the rope firmly as Bangcrashboom swings back and forth, just like a pendulum. Assuming that the acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s^2, what is the numerical value of the frequency of this pendulum divided by its period?
Challenge #8
I am but a word,
Made from numbers as letters incognito, my pieces seven.
But as you are probably finding, intelligible they are not.
I think you should ask "An Marga" how to tackle this jumbled mess.
Only then can you come say hello.
Where am I? A place of freedom, where sources are open... my name echoes a humanist philosophy originating in the Bantu languages of Africa. Come to my forums and find me.
