I don't like mashing at all, and not mashing is what earned me a mere 4.6k rank. Are you telling me that I'm getting ranks in the 300s+ on 10-difficulty songs, and yet suddenly 3300 other people can beat me at EHHS? You can't tell me that an overwhelming majority of those 3300 weren't mashing. Fair play as far as I'm concerned.

Mashing won't get you better in any way. Someday, if you do get better, you'll have to play it normally (non-mashing) and then you'll have some real trouble. Just stop playing it and get better...then go for the FC.

It doesn't matter if it's "fair play" or not. The point is that it's useless.

EHHS has been AAA'd by three people. The top ten scores on it are, I believe, all SDG's. I've got 3 goods and that's only rank 6. There's no way you're going to get a remotely good score from mashing. It's also counterproductive, because you learn bad reading habits, and you're wasting your playing time not getting better but getting worse.

Patience.

EDIT: Also, my average rank is 18693.xx. I don't really see how average rank matters.

There's a point at which physical limitations stop you. For me, my skills aren't deveopled enough to "400 combo" EHHS. Big deal. As I said before, I hate mashing, however I am attempting to improve my average rank, and I would bet many many credits that a good chunk of those with better EHHS ranks than me were mashers. Fair play.

Since people continually miss my point, I'll outline them again, in clear, brief statements.
- I play this game to have fun, not to AAA everything
- One of my personal goals right now is to improve my average rank
- I hate mashing
- I hate EHHS because, at my current skill, it requires mashing to get anywhere. However, since it's not my life's purpose to always increase my skill (Although it happens naturally), it doesn't bother me that I'm using dead luck to get whatever rank I got.
- Many of the people in the top 4.6k were mashers, and I would bet thousands of credits on this fact. If mashing is not legit, then I'm simply playing by their rules, to get to the rank I would've been in the first place, had all these mashers not played the song.

If you have a problem with it, then don't do it. This is a game, the purpose of which is to have fun, and that's exactly how I'm playing it.

Deal with it.

Take a moment to think about what you're saying. Yeah, you're probably better than me... and so are a lot of the people reading this thread, but if you think about it, you, and myself, are probably some of the best in the world at this kind of game.

There are billions of people on this planet. A majority don't play.
Of those who do play, most of them are casuals, or play every now and then, and couldn't even pass a Difficult song.

Now we're looking at EHHS, which besides Vertex vrofl, is probably the, or one of the, hardest songs in the game.

And you're bitching at me 'cause I can't get a 400 combo on a jumpstream with a faster-than-average BPM, and you're scolding me for how I'm playing, because it'll "disprove my reading skill" or "make me worse".

I play this game to have fun. Out of the people who play FFR/SM, you and I are probably within the top 1-3% of players.

When is good enough for you?

You made a thread asking how to improve your rank on a fairly difficult song, and said that you couldn't get above a 62 or 91 combo. Most of the people who read your thread realized that you weren't ready to play the song and suggested that you try to get better by playing easier songs before attempting something that hard. You got offended and said, "Screw you guys, I'll do it my way!" What did you want us to tell you?

ok, first of all, i just want to remind you that i'm the kid you thoroughly chewed out for mashing about 3 months ago when i was just screwing around in multiplayer...back when i couldn't play worth crap

next, that's a dumb point...the ones that play ffr don't care if they're good at it or not, so really you're only referring to the few who do play, which is most likely considerably less than the 1.2+ million members

if it's true what you're saying about playing just to have fun, then why mash (which really isn't that fun anyway) just to get a better rank?

and yes, ehhs is hard, but people have AAA'd it and SDG'd it...there are still probably 10-20 guru songs that are waaaaay harder than ehhs that haven't even been fc'd

finally, it really doesn't matter if someone mashes, because ultimately they only hurt themselves skillwise and they have no chance at AAA or even a relatively good score (FC with 1000 boos still isn't all that great) and it's not like they'll be able to make a tier only mashing songs

you only have to be top-10000ish in order to be top 1%, so that's not much of an accomplishment...
