The word in video game terms is just considered modify. It is just changing something that initially was not like that. For instance, "modding" in Halo 2 might be someone making him/herself invincible to bullets, which would be cheating. Modifying the visual speed of the arrows in games would NOT be cheating.

I prefer to use them but I know people who don't like them at all. It's all about preference. It doesn't change the song speed, tempo, what arrows come up where or anything. I think your friends preference is to be an idiot.
