Do Speed Mods change our score?

Is it simply a visual effect that helps us read, or does the game itself actually change?

What I mean is, jack syndrome. Using speed modifiers will space the arrows further apart. Will this help decrease the chance that the game will read the later arrow first? Or is it just visual effects?

Using a speed mod does not affect your overall score... it might make your skill improve but it doesn't have a direct result on your score.

i don't like the speed mods for ffr, i doubt i'll ever use them for real, screen cutting is the way to go!

Speed mods do not affect the way in which the game registers arrows (or gives out points for accuracy; perfects/goods/averages/etc. still get the same amount of points, regardless of the use of speed mods). They simply provide the player with an arrow set that is spaced accordingly to the setting. Anything that seems like an addition to jack syndrome is attributed mainly to the framerate (FFR runs at 30 frames per second). Since faster scrolling arrows traverse through frames at a higher rate, jack syndrome becomes much more apparent (also partly because the player will tend to hit the arrow at the same time/position as with normal scrollrate).

Most people will tend to have better accuracy / pattern-hitting ability with a higher speed, but song-combo'ing ability goes down until jack syndrome is adapted to.

r u sure u get what hes asking, or is this the truth. cause ive heard alot of people talk about how its impossible to AAA some some songs cause of jacks blah blah. ive never really payed to much atention to that tho cause im not good enough for it to make a huge difference lol

The first poster is asking something along the lines of:
If I AAA Trip to the moon without speed mods and AAA it with speed mods, will 1 score be higher than the other.

oh-- the answer is NO.. Speed mods help some people (like me.. 1.5 and 1.75 forever.) but some people are horrible with them, so it doesn't affect your score on the songs depending on whether or not you use them.

Acually most of these people arn't playing songs hard enough where they are usefull (exept for PA'ing) or are just new the the concept of it. Screen shinking is in no way better than speed mods, it just takes some getting used to.
