I was going to bump my topic, but this got long enough that I felt it should be an individual thread. If not, just merge it with my old thread. Anyway.
Look, can someone in staff please explain to me how so much is allowed to be uncensored in profiles. I'm all for freedom and I like to say things straight which can sometimes seem like flaming or whatnot, but I do respect the rules. When Synth says he wants to make this site friendly for all I think that's a good thing. I want this site to be welcoming to all who can post decently and get along with the rest of the community.
How then, are the profiles allowed to contain so much stuff that may actually be damaging if a minor or a 13 year old or whoever saw it.
Example 1:
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...scanner/36387/
This guy is showing himself cutting. If anyone young or impressionable were to see that then they could think it was cool. "Hey, if FFR people do it then it's cool, right!". Easily copy'able. Not really something people should be looking at. Hell, teenhelp ban these sort of pictures because they cause emotional stress to people and can trigger them to cut themselves.
Example 2:
http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/profile/cheezit101/
Language is the main concern here. This guy is allowed to continuously post "**** you" without being censored. His avatar is racist, and his pictures are derogatory, to say the least. Anyone seeing it could think it's fine and that FFR allows things like that. That doesn't really protect the youth.
Add to the fact that you have to be 13 in order to post on the forums (for obvious reasons), yet you are allowed to make a profile at any age, or else it just isn't being noticed that minors make accounts, even when other members post the accounts in threads.
Oh, and if you want to make FFR more school-friendly, then things like this aren't helping.
I really do think things like this need to be cleaned up. It's getting ridiculous.
