Is it possible to play ffr on C400?

It just seems really slow compared to stepmania, and it's really messing up my timing.

Also, is there a way to use something besides the arrow keys? My hands get kinda cramped when I don't use spread...

    Use the NumPad.

Also, FFR is unique in its own sense. It doesn't have Speed-mods for a reason. If you want to play with speed-mods, go play Stepmania.

shrink your browser window so it cuts off some of the arrows near the bottom. it's pretty much the same thing as increasing the Cmod.

The numpad doesn't really help =/

left down arrows, 8 6 numpad.

if that still doesn't work for you, check out the sticky in this forum about remapping keys.
