    Sound on or off?

I actually play with the sound off.... I guess it helps me to concentrate more on what the arrows are actually doing, not what I think they're going to do because of the music. Once I turned it off I started getting the low-level AAAs easily.

Anybody else play with the music off?

I don't have any sound ATM, so I guess I play with it off.

Playing with sound off is so lame.

I turn off sound for offsync songs and songs I don't like.

i think its harder to do without sound
all you have to do is play a song more then once then you'll be able to go to the beat of it.
so it will make it wayy easier.

PS. Why didn't you make a poll?

Because Polls are dumb unless they don't make any sense. Then they're pointless and dumb.

That pretty much sums up what I was going to say.
I probably wouldn't have repeated dumb and useless, though.

Playing without sound is impossible for me. If I can't hear the beats, I can't hit the arrows... >.<

                          Re: Sound on or off?

I almost always play with the sound on. There are times where hearing the melody or rhythm allows me to hit patterns better than I would by sight alone. Being able to combine an audio pattern that I can feel/sense with the more mechanical separation of the arrows that I see, can make things easier for me. That may not be true all the time, but I know there are some songs or pieces of songs where I focus more on the audio rhythm than deciphering the color coded arrows.

The main reason I'd turn off sound is because the song isn't synchronized well. The music becomes distracting then, because I'll try to hit arrows on the notes I hear, but that's different from when the arrows visually line up. I get really messed up if the audio and video seem to be out of sync, and I sometimes turn off the sound in that case.

The one other reason I might turn off sound, but don't normally, is when a song has been stepped at what I feel is the wrong tempo. Typically this means I see arrows coming at twice or half the speed I think they should be coming by what I hear. Victims and Martyrs is one example. The beat I hear is half the speed the arrows were stepped at. This makes the arrow colors not match what I think they should be because I'm hearing a 16th note stream and looking at an 8th note stream. This generally makes the song harder for me to play, but in this particular case, I'm not sure I could handle a 16th stream of jumps as well, so maybe it's better for me now that it looks like an 8th stream instead. I don't usually turn off the sound on songs like this, but if they distract me enough, I might. (More often than not, I just don't play them much instead.)

i like playing with the music on, but if i am going for a AAA ill turn it off.
Sound off also helps if the music isnt perfectly synced
