What Makes You Better At FFR?

I am not sure if I am the only one that does this, but what do you do that seems to make you play better? Post away...

Mine is:

Whenever I play a song I tend to think about something else other than FFR and strangely I can get combos better than when I'm concentrated on the arrows. Usually it's about school, parties, life, whatever. As long as my mind isn't on the arrows.

Anything unusual you do that appears to positively affect your score on FFR?

Helps me to hear those small beats (Like LWIV for example)

Same as you TD project. I always get carried away sometimes and start daydreaming on something else but at the same time, playing FFR.

Headphones, AutoHotKey Definatley helped me alot, It boosted my scores way up, along with Screenshrinking. Sometimes if I'm cruising through a song that isn't too difficult I don't even look directly at the screen, I'll turn my head and move my eyes to where the arrows are only in the corner of my vision and it seems to be somewhat easier

I'd agree with most of you all with headphones. And I usually am able to get a higher combo when I'm not focused on the game. I'm either thinking about something completely different than FFR, or staring into the screen thinking about nothing.

Thinking about PA helps me combo stuff much more easily, for some reason.

If I'm thinking about hitting all the arrows, I usually miss one.

i use headphones, i'm "slunged" back in my chair so that i see the screen at eye lvl, play a song 1 or twice for a beat and then i play it seriously unless i know the song already,

btw, where do you guys look on the screen while you play i know you can't really look down every arrow when its streaming i look just above where my combo is shown

1. A good keyboard without sticky or slippery keys.
2. Headphones for those little ticks in the songs.
3. Keyboard at comfortable height so that less stress is placed on wrist.
4. Being healthy and clean to avoid coughs, sneezes and itches.
5. Practise.

Drug mostly help me with timing but i have play the game alot. also doing the game in slience mode will help u in mastering the song alltho its most difficult for some. I dont know....

i used to play resonance or SM before ffr since the songs were most of the time alot faster and so when you go back to ffr it seems really easy

Unlike most of the previous posters, I find it helps me when I do concentrate on the arrows. I've tried the strategy of looking away and whatever, but when I do that and a big block of rapid-fire arrows comes up, all I see is just that, a big block that I have no chance at comboing. If I'm concentrating on the arrows themselves, I see them as arrows.

If I'm looking at a big vague block, I'd probably be better off just smashing keys randomly. If I'm looking at a series of arrows, I can see how to combo it.

Using the number pad D: and also playing with no sound, because some songs are horribly off sync and it really screws me up :/

i find it easier to combo (harder to PA) if my keyboard is on my lap.

however if it's on a flat surface i can PA pretty well.
