An individual that plays a particular multiplayer game less than 15 hours a day, thus causing him/her to be less skilled at that game than the person calling him/her a n00b. N00bs are usually classified as having a job, an active social life, and possibly a lover. These things are reviled in the "gamer" community, which means that n00bs are hated with a passion in thier circles. The term is usually used in Counterstrike servers and Battle.net, where many mouthbreathing "elite gamers" and internet tough-guys can be found.
Normal player: hey, how do I beat (x) if I'm using (y)?
"Elite" gamer: lololol ur a n00b u suk lolol pwned get sum skilz nub ***
Normal player: Uhhh....what?
billy dude... 20031023... thats a ****ing easy song...
i can FC cia rave... and i have been able to FC secret zombie room for well over a year
ok this is a PRIME example of a n00b, the definition of a n00b is someone who can be really good or suck a lot... they just act like a total asshole all the time. n00b = lack of netiquite
Okay I dont apply to either of those really. Someone who sucks is someone who is REALLY BAD. When I first started playing FFR I was a noob in your definition (mine too). I thought it was like impossible to finish Secret Zombie Room and I died on Bonus Yoshi round and I got tons of averages and goods on Trip to the moon. But Im not like that anymore. I dont suck, Im not really good but I am decent.
Is there any specific difference between "noob" "newb" and "n00b"?
I think this is what we should be discussing: The difference between a newb and a n00b (FYI: noob = n00b.). This seems to be the point of confusion for the original poster of the topic anyway. A newb is simply a new user. Polite, interested, open to advice and willing to try their harderst to advance themselves in both the game and the forums. (IE: Me. =] ) A n00b is someone who stereotypically uses poor nettiquitte, is immature and annoying, and trolls for fights. I didn't read the urban dictionary article, but I'm sure that MORE than covers it. (That site always does. What would we do without it? Ask embarassing questions, that's what.)
