FFR on a Laptop: Keyboard Limitations

    Hello,

    First post here, I guess.

I've been playing for about four months now (sheesh), and I'm starting to get to the point where I'm beginning to realize the limitations of playing FFR on my laptop, namely, being forced to play FFR with one hand. There really isn't much I can do with the given space that I have... I've considered that maybe remapping letter keys could be a possible solution, but I have no practical way of going about and doing that.

Does anyone have any ideas about how I could go about learning to play FFR with both hands?
(Keeping in mind that changing computers isn't a possible solution. )

    Thanks in advance.

you should be able to use that to remap the keys.
If not then just squeeze both hands onto the arrows or buy a usb keyboard.

I play FFR on my Laptop, and I have no problem with it.

Shave your fingers down to a smaller size.
put on a donk on it

I've been forced to play on my laptop since my desktop isn't working. Autohotkey or whatever the program jammer linked you to works great and is pretty easy to use. Or you could just force yourself to get used to being cramped when you play...

Jammer: Thanks, the progam worked flawlessly.

Everyone else: True enough... I tried playing with two hands and failed miserably. Guess I need more practice.

          P.S. My hands are huge.

I play on laptop. It was tough at first, my PA sucked and my fingers kept hitting each other, but I got used to it and now I'm better than I have ever been.

Wow... playing spread is really hard. I'm almost failing "beginner" songs now.
I guess it's learning the movements all over again.

You mean.. you don't want to use the four arrow keys? And I'm assuming you're not talking about a laptop, but.. I have an eMac, so, try playing with your left hand on the left and down arrow keys and then with the right hand, do the number 6 and 8 on the number pad.

Re: FFR on a Laptop: Keyboard Limitations

I prefer a laptop over a normal PC. I hate the bulkyness of PC keys. I'm so used to laptop keys that whenever I use a PC I get tons of misses and am usually a little late because they are harder to press down.

I also play with 2 fingers from each hand on the arrow keys not spread so it does get crowded but I've learned to work around it. I have a very unorthadox style.

I have no problem playing four finger on a laptop or with a regular desktop keyboard. ^^ My fingers are small. xD

That works really well for my laptop and is a good alternative then having your fingers jammed. Or you can do the autohotkey too, but I stuck with the numpad 8 and 6 thing.

laptops dont usually have numpads... at least the laptops I see never do. Unless you use the function key or something but i really have no idea how that would work cause you would have to cross your hands.
