You have turned off private messages. You may not view or send private messages until you turn them on by editing your profile.

Click the "User CP" button on the top left.
Under "Settings & Options" click "Edit Options".
Scroll down to "Messaging & Notification" and check the "Enable Private Messaging" box.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click "Save Settings".

It should work after that
