Increasing Skill and things of that Sort

I have been playing FFR almost a year now and I wanna know if this is just my limit or should I be better than doin CIA Rave and stuff...

I can hardly do Caprice or Revolutionary Etude (Towards the end..) and it seems like there is such a gap inbetween the skill level of the hardest songs to the songs I can do now... You have to be able to ease your way into harder songs, but I dont see any songs that can help me ease my way from songs like CIA Rave, into songs like Rev. Ettude and EHHS.

I can do Quasar on 2X speed on Stepmania and only miss a few but Quasar seems EZ compared to some of these songs here. Well, on 2X speed it seems easier.

I have problems doing jumpies that use only my left hand..
For example if I had to go really fast from left and up to down and right and back (IE: The end of crowdpleaser before the stream where it goes Left and Up, Down and Right, Left and Up, Down...) ...

I know its better to go spread and it seems better but I have a hard time doing fast movements with my left hand like rolls that go left right left right left right... Now this inst relaly a problem because I will just switch from four fingered style to index to hit the rolls but if I go spread I cant really do that anmore.. Actually, I cant even say I am four finger style cus I switch between four fingered to index...

Basically.. is this normal? I mean, is this the level I should be or does it always seem hopeless when it comes to getting better at my level...

So you know what "My Level" is.. I can do lots of Master Songs... Well, the easy ones like CIA Rave, Rondo Ala Turca (and V2), Uber Rave, etc. but a lot of songs that have streams and jumps mixed in seems too insane...

I think you should be able to do better because I have only been playing for .19 years and, well, look at my siggy...
My overall rank is actually 1640ish

While my account was registered for .88 years, I stopped playing FFR about three months after I started, and I started up again around summer.

I am rank 1225...

I doubt you are better than me though, no offense intended... I'm pretty sure overall rank is calculated differently than average rank...

Overall rank is basically just how many games you've played. NO indication of skill only time speant.

Average rank is the avg of all your ranks on each individual song. A much closer representative of skill.

I've been playing for like half a year and I can play some of the same songs you mentioned...and I'm ranked like 1020 or something. I think that some people progress at things faster than others so you can't really tell what the normal is...although, correct me if I'm wrong.

Thomas, that skill level seems normal. I went from index to spread not long ago and still have problems keeping up with *those* songs. I think it's just about building up speed over time.

Do a song that you can JUST BARELY pull off. For instance, When I realised it was possible for me to first FC cia rave and that I could understand patterns that fast, I whored the sound until I could fc it, or at least come really close. Then came delirium. All the while, my PA and reading skills were increasing dramatically. However, while doing these songs, I adjusted my mind to streams and no jumps\trills. Therefore, I started with Rondo alla turca, until I saw that I could FC it without a few mistakes [and for some reason my left fingers freeze up on that song -_-;;]. So by this point I could FC Alot of songs, so I went to get rank 1 on alot of easy easy songs. In doing this, I furthermore improved my pa. Now I practice on songs such as cutting circles and such. Check the r1 actual diffuculties thread, it's helped me alot.

promoting mashing when you tell people to do songs they could BARELY do. instead, try to work your way up rather than starting up at the top. everyone starts from the bottom up.

How in any way am I promoting mashing? Barely do as in can read most of the patters, but get tripped up on a few.. not Got try and FC EHHS by mashing. You got me wrong?

I need a few tips too. The <, >, <, >... Is killing me at high speeds. I start out good, then my timing dissapates, and I'm getting averages and boos before 10 seconds.

For .88 ish years, Am I doing ok? I can get a few comboes in CIA Rave, I never button mash in that song. Based on the thread "Real song Diffuculties V2, I am in Very Diffucult to Challenging songs.

Try not to play at your max comfort level is my tip. Either push yourself on harder songs or PA on easier songs... either way will help. Never do anything that you're mediocre at, either be really good or barely alive (no mashing though).

I Have ben playing for like a year total, 3 years logged on this account. But im like 130 something overall rank, and like 450 average rank. Im at a huge platue right now as far as getting better goes, i can pretty much do all the master songs, but i cant FC CIA rave, on the other hand i CAN FC delirium but i cant seem to get that slight step up. doubles and jacks still have me completely screwed, why cant i hit jacks well! are jacks just hitting the keys as fast as humanly possible? in any case, i need to improve more.

Jacks from around 170 BPM and down you can hit normally, as long as you're right on. If you hit late at all you're screwed. Jacks from that speed up you must hit the first early (and get a good) and then hit the second one correctly. On fast jacks the timing windows overlap and the second arrow takes precedence so you must hit the first arrow before the second arrows timing window. To help you visualize:

As you can see, if you hit the first arrow in its perfect window, it will credit you for hitting an average on the second arrow and a miss on the first.
