    Re: Best finger position

Spread is way better than index in FFR. There are just so many crossovers and doubletaps in really fast streams, it's stupid. Also, songs like silence and songs like pants and EHHS are extremely hard to score well on index.

Its easier to button mash with two hands then one so you get use to playing with two hands by button mashing and then you refine it down to the point where you are going for PA's.

i get you now...i only held a 13 combo on that crap. between the streaming with the doubles hidden in there and the 16th's all over the place, i was screwed...i figure im a decent index player though, as long as the stepfiles arent ridiculous

When i began FFR, I also played one-handed. After about a month I saw my friend play with two so I decided to give it a try. I failed but lo and behold i can beat every song in FFR. Like mentioned before, practice practice practice.

              EHHS = unfair

I got a 350 combo with one hand... but then again that's with almost as many boos as hits. I've long since stopped playing that song one-handed (I still mash mind you) and it's certainly been easier, although I've only once beaten my old score.

                  Re: Best finger position

When I first started out, I used my left index, right index, and right middle fingers. I got pretty good with it, but I couldn't get the harder songs at all seeing as I was only using 3 fingers. Since then, I've switched to the left middle, left index, right index, and right middle fingers. I can get the harder songs a lot better now.

Oh, and I don't use the numpad arrows either. I just use the other ones. It was a little uncomfortable at first, but I have gotten used to it and I don't have any problems with it at all.

I would say the hardest part about switching is the practice you have to do with the new style to be come good with it. I had to play for a few weeks with the new style on the easier songs before I could get it down right.

                        Re: Best finger position

Ohhhhhhhhh my Goddddddd. Thank you. I never knew what spread was or even played it. I played four finger left hand on Left and Down and Right on Left and Up.

The only problem I have is like on the part at the end of CIA Rave when it goes Left Down Left Down Left Up Left Up, Left Right Left Right (Really Fast) because when that comes I usually switch from four fingered to index on that part. Yeah and I dont think I can go from spread to index style and do a cross over.. SO I guess I will have to get used to doing that stream spread style.

Edit: I CAN do indexed on spread... because on that stream my left index only hits the left arrow and the other hits the ups lefts and downs...

That's close to my style, but I use:
Right hand: Index on up and down, middle on right
Left hand: Index on left and down

much easier to do trills this way than spread and almost as fast and accurate as it IMO

I only play spread or 4 finger arrow keys on Silence.

do three fingers count as spread? if not, i can get a fair combo on ehhs, fc in silence and bf. if so, disregard this comment.
