But I'm new to the game (I can beat most of the easys so far) and was wondering how to unlock some of the unavailable songs. Is it just by getting more credits or higher scores, or do you actually have to purchase each song individually. Thanks in advance.

Both. There's a list of songs you can only get in the FFR Shop, and another one you can only get by having a lot of credits (they appear in the Secret category). The last secret song is somewhere around 3500 credits.

if by unavailable you mean secret songs then yes about the credits. the more credits the more secret songs. you need i think 3000 to have all the secret songs

Ok so I can either get purchased songs or secret songs, but what about in the hip-hop category for example songs that say "not available," will those ever be available

That's just filler for when there aren't any more songs in a category. There isn't supposed to be a song there.
