2 handers usually play with left middle on the <- key and left index on the V(down) key. then right index goes on the 8 key and the right middle goes on the 6. (spread)

index is when u do the same thing with ur left hand but u put ur right index on the ^ key and the right middle on the -> key

haha...I was thinking the same thing....funny enough I just get confused over having both my hands on the keys....to me its just easier with one hand. I can do almost all the songs...except expert and guru..... -.-; ^.^ but yeah. practice....thats key....

Psssst. Index is 2 hand/2 finger (both indexer fingers, *gasp*).

It takes a lot longer to get good with one hand, but it's not impossible. Whatever's more fun for you.

There are a couple of different ways to play with two hands.

          1) Index: You use the index fingers on both of your hands. Left index is left arrow, right index is right arrow (excepting crossovers, maybe), and up/down change depending on what works better. Fairly close to actual DDR.

          2) Four-finger: You use the index and middle fingers on both of your hands. The best (and most common) setup is

          Left Index: down
          Left Middle: left
          Right Index: up
          Right Middle: right

Because the left two arrows on the screen are your left hand, and the right two arrows on the screen are your right hand. Makes it very easy to read.

          3) Spread: Same as four-finger, but on Stepmania you change the key configurations to space your left and right hand apart so they don't keep bumping into each other. In FFR, you put your right hand on the numpad (8 and 6).

          4) Pettanko / Darkness Laser: Spread with your ring and pinky fingers. Ridiculously difficult. Don't try.

2hands = better scores, higher credits, and good to learn if you are one hander.

I've been playing 4-finger for a while now (after realising I wasn't improving with index style), but I've been wondering about the positioning of my hands. I tend to play with my palms resting on the desk, while my fingers do the work on the arrows. I've also tried raising my hands off the desk, so each keytap is slightly louder.

Which position is more common/easier to play with?

And sense you get better faster, you have more fun playing IMO.

I use to books or something like that to rest my arms on, and my fingers move much faster. I'm and indexer, but i use a third finger for crossovers and hands.

My max steam is about 210-220 range.

I use two hands up to four fingers, mainly index fingers but when I need to cross (like during a freeze arrow) I use my middle finger. My Max Stream is up to 350 BPM on songs with 1/8th arrows.

I push my keyboard as far away as I can (there is maybe 1 3/4 keyboard lengths of room on my desk as the keyboard is lower than the rest of the desk) and rest my wrists on the desk. It doesn't really improve my accuracy but I can play for longer periods of time. Without it I can maybe get 60-70mil in one sitting but I can get 100mil when I support my wrists.

I play two handed, but I sort of have to squish my hands into the corner of my laptop, where the keys are.
