DDR 9th mix a reality... sort of

    http://cgi.gamefaqs.com/boards/genme...topic=10657685

If you're lazy and you don't want to go to the link, here's what it says:

    The END of DDR Confirmed

Well not actually the end, but we won't be seeing a new for a very long time

Naoki said this at live in vel for extreme

"DDR will be put to rest for a while, but i will be concentrating alot on beatmania series along with gfdm series, so please enjoy them!"

what? what??? no more DDR? I fell sad...sad, lonely and unloved. The fine folks at Konami have obviously forgot about their noble fans...however, I'm not worried. Surely the raging riots and mobs attacking the Konami headquaters in Japan will bring them to see reason.

All this means is that when DDR does come back, it'll blow our minds.

People won't get tired of playing Extreme - it's really the best mix DDR has ever seen. And new players and their new addictions will keep it alive in the States.

No, it's not true at all. There are over 50 IIDX machines, and that's just IIDX.

There are 3 types of beatmania:

Beatmania IIDX (7 key, most popular)
Beatmania (5 key, second most popular)
                Beatmania III (5key, least popular)

Well, it's gotta be better than the way things are in England..
I've only ever seen three Beatmania machines.

Beatmania 3rd Mix (the 'mini' version) (with the first key unresponsive, making the game annoying to play as it often claims you miss even when you press the button)

Another Beatmania 3rd Mix (again, the mini one), which has broken speakers and is almost inaudible and crackles all the time...

And finally, a 'Hiphopmania' machine, which is just set to really quiet settings.

Interestingly enough though, I played Beatmania 3rd Mix in the arcade before I played DDR (or, 'Dancing Stage') in the arcade, and have been playing beatmania PC simulators since then.. yet still find Ska-A-Go-Go impossible to beat!

They are probably waiting until DDR gets uber big in the US before they invest a lot of money in the States.

DDR hasnt exactly hit mainstream yet...give it about another 1-2 years I'm guessing.

I have estimated that North America is about 7 years behind in fads from Japan. DDR came out in 1998...so at about 2005 I'd expect it to hit mainstream...it's almost there.
