Like Multiplayer? Use FireFox? Got Lag? Look in here!

    *This seriously needs stickied.*

After doing some reasearch, and doing various tests, I have found a way to not only play ffr without more than a little lag, but even just surfing the internet faster than EVER before.

Here's what you need to do:

    2. Find network.http.pipelining and double click on it so it = true
    3. Find network.http.pipelining.maxrequests double click on it and change it from 4 to 100

    What do these changes do?
    1. Then enables advanced tab options in your Tools/Options page
    2. This enables option #3.
    3. This makes FF use 8 threads to each page.. Bascially, if you thought FF was fast before, try it after this.

I'm not sure how changing pipelining.maxrequests from 4 to 100 opens 8 threads. Perhaps I'm bad at numbers. And I heard setting that value too high causes problems (Besides, having 100 threads open is useless unless you have some kind of godly internet). You can probably double all the other http.network.whatever settings for a little more speed.

If you want to make it seem faster though, in about:config add a new setting called nglayout.initialpaint.delay, and set it to 0 (or close to 0). Instead of waiting half a second before rendering the page, FF will start putting it together right away. This does slow it down (just browsing that is, it won't affect downloads) but it will most likely seem faster. If it doesn't, just set it to the default of 500.

I only posted this to help prevent people from complaining about lag.

Only differnce is i-hacked said 30 instead of 100. I guess they found out 100 works better? I'm changing to 100 at the moment. I don't notice a difference actually but whatever. I don't play MP anyway, and if I do, i put the quality low.

the nglayout option makes it faster. Instead of loading the page piece by piece and displaying it as a whole, it displays what it can right away, which is alot if you have a decent connection

Well, no, that's pretty much all it does to be honest. Plus it has prefetching enabled by default (Prefetching is evil)
