I was playing the Bubbleman song in the Arcade section, and I just can't seem to get this part in the middle of the song. It's like, < and > at the same time and then quickly afterward is a different direction I don't remember. Does anyone have any tips on how to do those few movements without messing up?
Need help. And yes, I'm new

That's weird. You have trouble hitting a double and then another direction? Hmm...I don't remember that when I first started playing. Two questions: Exactly how many games of FFR have you played ('cause this sort of basic problem is probably just an experience issue) and what playing style do you use (i.e, which fingers to hit which keys?) -
I've played a lot. It's just that the arrows pass to fast for me to see which ones to press and it messes up my perfect score. I've actually played a lot. Not well, but a lot. I managed to pass FF7 and Beethoven Virus, as well as Breaking the Common. I don't play them well, I usually get only about 20% of top player's score. I only use my right hand to play.Comment

well first off, dont play the hard ones if your only getting 20% on them....go and play the easier ones ie. Mario 8-bit, computer dreams, trip to the moon, etc. Also use both hands and when you get good at that switch to one hand, thats how i did it and i learned how to play pretty quickly.Originally posted by Silvergolem2Think about it, your playin chess with an old man in the park, he messes up and you use your pawn to kill his knight or something, then you can get up and shout \"Pawned your arse old man!\" and run away!Comment

Super Mario is so easy it's sad. I like to play harder songs because they are usually better.
BTW, the steps I'm having trouble with it the eigth step ones in which they're not the same direction. It's about four eighth steps, so can anyone tell me what to press quickly? It passes to fast for me to see.Comment

I think that part's like ^ > \/ < > \/ or something.Comment

yeah like plasmix said... I used to try breaking the common and be like "omg arrows too fast...can't follow...." and now I have a pretty easy time with it (though I still have a long way to go...I can't touch those darned classical songs =\ ) I know which section you're talking about in the bubbleman song, I can hit that section perfect every time...It's all about experience man. There are similar sections in ff7 battle that will help you to get used to sections of 5 or 6 fast steps and it occurs a lot more often in ff7 battle than bubbleman so it's better practice.Reach: there was this bee. i hate bee\'s...i tryed to kill it, but then it didn\'t die and it started making weird noises so i was like oh (#$% hes gonna sting me. i started running but i triped over some rock and rolled down a hill into the river.Comment

take it from me, unless you play with two hands, you will NEVER be able to pass fotbb, or at least on SM. you may have to relearn alot, but itll pay off in the long run. there are some advantages to being able to do a lot with one hand, but you shouldnt just play with that hand, because any eigth notes with a jump and single notes after, and your screwed, unless its like <>,<,< or somthing. and btw bubbleman is offbeat.Comment

oh, waitaminute. i just realized how to do the <>, ^ with one hand. do <> with your index and ring, then ^ with your middle.Comment

I can pass FOTBB with one hand easy... I can only get like a high C/low B on it, but that's just because I suck at the song...Comment

You can do a lot of songs one handed with no problem, its just that if your new you shouldnt be doing songs one handed. Its just easier to learn two handed and then go to one hand.Originally posted by Silvergolem2Think about it, your playin chess with an old man in the park, he messes up and you use your pawn to kill his knight or something, then you can get up and shout \"Pawned your arse old man!\" and run away!Comment

no, I think it's best to learn whichever way feels most natural to you. A lot of good players use 1 hand, so there's no reason to knock people starting out 1 handed.
I've tried different styles (2 fingers, 2 hands) and it's just not natural enough for me to stick with. I don't really care if playing with 3 fingers disadvantages me in some ways, it's better than having to fight through the unnatural feeling BEFORE I actually learn to be adept at that style.Reach: there was this bee. i hate bee\'s...i tryed to kill it, but then it didn\'t die and it started making weird noises so i was like oh (#$% hes gonna sting me. i started running but i triped over some rock and rolled down a hill into the river.Comment
