You wait for the arrows to reach the top of the screen on thier outlines. If the arrow is an up arrow, you tap the up arrow key. If it is a left arrow, you tap the left arrow key, and so on depending one which way the note is.

You will get a more positive and exact response if you are more specific.

You see arrow. You watch arrow, when arrow reaches it's outlined shape at top of screen, you press the arrow that looks just like it on your keyboard, then you get points, then you are happy, then you never come back to the forums again.

You know, I was initially thinking about sending my avatar after you, Aliz, but then I recognized it was your first post, so I decided to get helpful. Welcome to the FFR forums. ^_^

A lot of newbies make the mistake of hitting arrows too early, getting goods or averages. If you wait just a little bit longer, you'll be more precise. A little something I find helpful is to try to hover your fingers above the keys. Also helps me with occasions where I need to hit the same key very rapidly, a condition known as a "jack." Been thinking about using the numpad and the arrow keys in conjunction to hit the faster stuff like at the very end of Synesthetic R1, but I can never seem to get around to it.

I still can't get over how what looks like a little too late to me is actually passed off as a Fantastic on ITG, whereas my version of perfect only gets me Excellents. Kind of annoying, but I guess I'll get used to it.

Yeah, I know, some of this post is directed at the more experienced crowd, but don't worry. If you keep your head away from the battleaxes (no, seriously, sometimes certain people are described as "battleaxes" because of their temper) on these forums, you'll learn in due time what this stuff means. And just remember...when you get to the point where you can pass For Gurus Only songs like Balloon Fever, remember your very first post and laugh heartily.
