Bad stepfiles=hard songs

I've noticed that certain songs that should be pretty easy are very difficult for me. Songs like "to the end" and the funk songs are extremely difficult for me to keep a combo of anythign past 20, while I have no trouble full-comboing songs like sonic2 and secret zombie room, which have excellently syched stepfiles.

I just dont' like doing so lousy on those easy songs because the stepfiles suck. Arg!!!

Stop jackin up your volume and playin by the beat all the time and try looking at the arrows first. I know 90% of the Classic songs have absolutely no arrows that go with the beat, so thats why you have to go by the arrows on those songs.

Tosh, yea you bring up a point, I guess you have to play it visually, but it seems that ideally you would be able to play it focusing on the audio, but when you do, it causes errors on most songs.

It's just that if you look at the stepfiles, some songs that shoudl be easier than others aren't because the sound file throws you off. And Tosh, you bring up a good point about the classic songs. I think some of them, specifically Moonlight Sonata shoudl be removed or replaced. The pianist messes with the time a bit, as classical pianists often do. This however doesn't work so well in a game like FFR.

Moonlight Sonata is basically the ONLY song that needs to stay, maybe you just need to practice rhythem :P

The arrows really should be matching the music though and curlydave is right, when they don't it makes things harder. Hopefully in the future they'll sync things up better so that we won't have the problem of getting conflicting messages from our ears and eyes. Yes, you can mute it and play by sight only, but I don't think the game is really supposed to be that way and you lose audible clues from the music, like when the arrows are matching a rhythm in the melody instead of being straight, even beats.

As for Moonlight Sonata, I don't think the general rhythm is all that difficult. Remember that much of it is in triplets, not quarters, eighths, sixteenths, etc. I don't think this rhythm is very common in games like this so that could be throwing you. Just remember that it is triplets and with a bit of practice you should be able to get it.

I have no problem with any of the funk songs, they seem very well stepfiled, but I do have to agree that bad stepfile=hard song, i have found several "difficult" songs that I could get through easily. Though, visual is a good thing too, I still have probelms.

Quite a few people have been coming across as trouble-makers lately, just trying to antagonize people and get them riled up. I try to ignore them.

Maybe the funk songs are synchronized well, but I think they have some unusual rhythm patterns in them that make them a bit harder. I seem to get thrown by them a lot when I expect an even rhythm to continue and it doesn't. Eventually I'll stop anticipating and get better at seeing the arrows to know the rhythm change is coming, but I'm still new enough that I need more practice at it.
