I've been playing a 3 finger spread for about 8 years, I started off as a one hander. And still can't seem to transform over to a 4 finger spread. Any songs or levels in particular that you guys would say are geared towards improving as a player? there's only so many buttons one finger can press at one time, lol.

Re: Suggestions for Converting from 3 Finger Spread?
Start with the most basic jumpstream files and work your way up from there.
Play stuff like Etude To A Dragon and Seven. If those bpms are too fast/uncomfortable, slow down the rate to 0.8/0.9 or whatever's manageable for you atm...if you can adjust to hitting jumpstream, you'll naturally adjust to hitting other patterns.

I play 4 finger split, not spread, lol (which is 1 finger on left hand + 3 fingers on right hand), and even I need to figure out how to transition into the 2 + 2 play-style. Don't worry rzr, you're not alone!

Re: Suggestions for Converting from 3 Finger Spread?
I personally started out for years as 2 index fingers on the arrow pad. I made my way through idk how lol...
When I tried spread df jk it was like...trying to learn to ride a bicycle backwards, with a bucket of water on my head, with my boss telling me "YOU'RE FIRED" in my ear. It just wasn't happening.
Now I play with index and middle fingers on the arrow pad and it works fairly well though I still am weak in many areas but overall the jumps and triples are obviously better.
Start slow. Try to at least get to your old scores on easier songs then work your way up. Easy is better, because you are literally retraining your mind and body.
Good luck!Comment

Re: Suggestions for Converting from 3 Finger Spread?
Do you guys think I should change the speed? I usually play on 1.75x going downwards, but for the more sense patterns maybe slowing down to 1 or 1.5?

Re: Suggestions for Converting from 3 Finger Spread?
You can most likely stay put if you still are going downscroll and 1.75x speedmod (it isn't readability that is changing, it is your finger setup changing here).
Slowing down might give you a slight boost to accuracy but it hinders readability, and Speeding up might give you a deficit in accuracy (at first) but helps readability. I look at it almost situational in terms of how I play.
I would recommend starting on a 4-key spread that makes your fingers feel in place and in control, like DFJK or ASKL (tighter spread imo helps your speed where farther spread helps your consistency).
