Players are going to be livid because of losing scores; I know I'm distraught about one score in particular (luckily I did save a replay/screenshot of said score so that doesn't affect me) but all in all your posts of "encouragement" aren't actually encouraging.

Velocity fucked up Hard. I could imagine that he got a sense of grilling from the Adm/Dev team. This is obviously a set example that testing on a LIVE SITE is so detrimental and assbackwards that I have no idea what Velocity was thinking when he was doing this with Prawn.

Furthermore in the reasons, Not having any backups from now until "3 days ago (which is not true by the way)" and October 2014 is absolutely astounding. As Admins of this site, it's nearly mandatory to keep fucking backups; I mean how hard is it to keep weekly backups huh?

Now time to grill Untimely. Dude. Higher Tier players got absolutely fucked in this whole thing, myself included. Some of us cannot replicate the scores that we have gotten because of certain reasons including Fluking, Damage to ones hands, etc. You say "play against yourself not the leaderboard" when the leaderboard and yourself are perfect measures of improvement and recognition of said improvement. Your attitude in post #33 was masked with "Look on the bright side guys" when you just sound like an asshole.

Look at this WHOLE thing from a REALISTIC point of view and see why some users are threatening to leave or disheartened to play anymore.

Well i'm glad i kept the replay and a SS of the 4-0-3-2 i got on Crowdpleaser a few days ago, never getting that again heh.
All in all, personally im not really mad about this. Sure, most of my scores are gone but i was getting pretty bored with ffr anyways and now i have something to do. I hated most of my scores anyways, and now that we have raw scores recording i can go through and not mash anything. :P Let the hate begin!


EDIT: Also, if i play now before the restoration and get scores, do they stay? Assuming i beat the restoration score i mean.

I'm in a situation where my scores are likely recoverable because a good majority of what is gone was things that were flagged. It still doesn't make this situation any better at all.

Let this be a lesson to have site backups; if the server doesn't have the space, one of the devs should take on the task and keep things local on a dedicated drive.

The only part of this that was "handled well" was that the devs were quick to give an announcement about missing scores. Users still have every reason to be concerned at what just happened:
- The devs should consider themselves incredibly lucky that it was just scores that were lost. Like someone mentioned previously, think about if it was much more than just scores and the site had to be reverted back to a 6-month old backup.
- This community deserves a sincere apology from the devs, and by apology I don't mean "I'm sorry". They need to be able to announce a plan of action so that something like this doesn't happen again -- It's not the script error that bothers me, but that the most recent backup was 6 months ago.

Zageron said that weekly backups will be done starting this weekend. It's incidents like this which make the community lose trust in the dev team from not being able to recover from a disaster like this.

So, you lost all passing scores with boos... because a lead developer didn't know boos don't correspond to arrows in the chart? Does Velocity even play the game? This is not a mistake that should ever be made! This is newbie stuff! And not taking a backup in six months (not even before you transitioned everything to raw scoring!) is really not cool. I'm glad I don't play this game much anymore.

I guess the good news is, all of that was on harder files, which I'll easily destroy my combo-scoring best score on, if I ever get properly warmed up again...

...again, it's less about the fact that it is gone because they likely can be recovered with ease. it's the fact that this all happened the way that it did.

I really feel bad for the people who put so many hours into the game and got their awesome scores. I am one of the fortunate souls who didn't seem to loose as much.

it's mistakes like this that are so fucking easy to make and miss cause it makes so much sense when you write it if not completely invested (don't anyone tell me you haven't written code where you weren't just going through the motions, so to speak)

I have achieved a lot of shit in the past 6 months, and I'm happy that my skill can't get wiped off. What makes my situation a bit different than many of yours, I have saved almost all of my scores to excel as that's the way I could add the best true score when raw score scoring wasn't implemented yet. It is also quite nice to be able to add notes etc.

I feel bad for those players which are much better than me, and lost their precious scores. (Such as Staiain's hatsune booflag). Recovering old scores is just not the same thing.

I'm not angry to you, Velocity! You are doing well with your coding work to improve the site. Making mistakes is fine, but repeating them is not, so make sure to do backups a bit more often.

But seriously though, shit happens. I know my last comment was a jab at you guys but I say thanks for stepping up and admitting the mistake and for at least offering a temporary solution to fix some scores.

You guys are communicating, you have done a lot with the game since Synth left, and that's awesome. Something like this puts a wrench in things but ya'll will have it sorted out soon I'm sure.

i lost about 400 tier points and about 200 fc's
NP man, there's only 1 score i regret not saving, but i have a vid for it so i'll upload that. As for the rest I guess I have some nice game sessions lined up in the future. Personally while i do whore, I pretty much don't care too much for my loss. See ya'll in MP!

now things are back to how they were before...
so much wasted time
average rank went from about 1.9k to 8.8k

for the last while, I was concentrating my time on getting my average rank higher, and that was my ultimate goal when I "wasted" my time playing all these stupid songs...
goddammit

I specifically made time for ffr to fc/play all rock songs, all funk songs, and as many of the secret songs as I could
All of that is gone, all of it

I CANT EVEN REMEMBER THE SCORES THAT PUT MY SKILL RATING WHERE IT WAS
