I never gave Jae a rating for Extratone, I think he just subbed in 88 because that's the difficulty we were looking for this round.

Definitely should be at least 89, probably 90.

The rank jump from rank 7 to rank 8 is 8-0-0-2 to an FC over 50 goods right now. The file has only been played around 1,000 times, but there aren't that many players that can leverage that kind of speed and burst control properly without missing.

If you ask me, difficulty ratings should be more about what's required in the file. ITG goes by passing difficulty -- iamchris4life for example quadded a 13 (Pandemonium) but hasn't quadded Euphoria which is "only a 12". Crowdpleaser requires really dumb luck in the 64th burst section and the 64th trill is harder to FC than any other 18 so it rightfully is put in 19.

Feel that it's 88 since it's primarily 250 BPM jumpstream, though a little awkward, objectively it's not really that hard compared to other 89s imo, but honestly I'm biased because I'm fast lol...

I personally think D5 and D6 are really messy charts that are used for the tournament simply because there is a lack of tournament files emphasizing the needed difficulties for this round. I sure hope that this will not be the case for the remainder of the tournament.

When I was given Extratone Pirates to polish up, I saw what to fix pretty easily.

That had no business being ingame. It would help to not step dickishly bad patterns like that for the sake of difficulty. The bootrap at the end I fixed as well to make it more fluent.

If files are going to be like this in the future and put fun aside, it's worse for the entire player base and it is embarrassing to see how files like that get through simply because it's a tournament.

I smell drama coming up, but I did the right thing and I do care about how files play. I should add this is the first time I've done something like this.

What exactly was fixed? Can you show a before and after screeny of the part you're talking about for those of us who have no chance of seeing it in the chart?

asking for permission wouldve been nice instead of just going in and editing my chart like it was your business. i asked you and a couple others to playtest the file prior to me sending it to rob no one cared to check the file.

also the file is fun to me as well as to plenty of others. i couldve gayed it up more but chose against it because i wasnt going to step it entirely for difficulty purposes.

The hand in that screenshot was turned into a left-down jump (removing the forced minijack), and then the single note at the end of the 32nd roll on the right part was turned into a jump. Same notecount, but it improved the file immensely.

also the file is fun to me as well as to plenty of others.

Yeah, I have to say, seeing Dossar quote everyone saying Extratone is fun as shit and then post 'glad my fixes were worth it' is completely asinine. Frame fixes are good and all, but that hand definitely shouldn't've been removed with Carlos' permission -- and removing that hand definitely wasn't the 'make-or-break' factor for making the file fun.

I thought wayward was complaining about framers being fixed without permission because of the discussion in the framer fix thread, but since actual changes were made to the chart permission should have been asked for before applying the changes. If it were just frame fixes, permission wouldnt have been needed since the chart wasnt being altered, but since you changed things, even if they were small changes, you should have still asked for his permission to do so.
