Just you have to look for the point with what you said.

You have the speed and reading to perform well on more difficult charts. I don't. Yet as you can see, I have every single file in game that is difficulty 7 or lower AAA'd, and I'm getting near AAA'ing the rest of the 8's. I have PA and moderate speed/reading.

The file we were given was a fair choice for our division (the first tie breaker, Dragons Bane), but it was too easy for me to repetitively PA (as seen from the retarded amount of blackflags I got on it), and too short/easy for you to mess up your PA.

The next *logical* move in a tiebreaker would be to present us with a song that is not only difficult to PA, but also a little lengthy, and I was thinking a mid-VC chart would be the next pick. Honestly, I feel a song like Sympathizer or Flying High or Survive would've been awesome picks for our tiebreaker.

Neither of us would've AAA'ed any of those files, and it still would've actually felt competitive.

Instead we're given an FGO, and you rofl win. Wow... that was fun.

No. That was retarded, and I am upset by it, but there isn't much I can do to fix it. So grats on the win.

Not really. I'm not arguing the decision. I said I would back out of the tourney and I stand by that, but just trying to put food for thought in peoples heads.

When you set up a division based tourney like this (where the divisions are based on someones skills) you don't just up the bar to beyond what is expected out of that division to see a result. While it is true someone will victor over the other, it's kinda like putting a white-belt and a yellow-belt (a yellow-belt is one "degree" higher than a white belt) against a black-belt in martial arts terms. The yellow-belt student may have the time and understanding of his art, and perform it with mechanical consistency (hi, I'm the yellow-belt in this particular metaphor), but that won't always beat the raw power of his white-belt (you're the white belt. not for lack of skill, but just the raw "power" you have compared to me) counterpart.

That was a horrible metaphor, but I didn't feel like exaggerating it by saying something like a white-belt vs a black-belt and a brown-belt (one degree lower than black) vs a black-belt or something.

Either way, I'm a consistent player. If I've achieved a score once (recently), there is no doubt in my mind that I could get it again, and again, and again, ad infinitum. I don't just miraculously bust out insane scores from no where. Every single song in my level ranks *is optimized* for me. There isn't a single score in there I could improve on PA wise (combo wise, yes, but I don't mash any more).

Once again, we are in D2. you are YOSHl, i'm a random D2'er. we just AAA'd our tie breaker on a difficulty 8. we now have AIM Anthem as a tiebreaker, and I don't know how to jack, and you unlocked Otaku Speedvibe [Oni] on this chart.

I feel we should be playing D3 songs in Division 3 though... even for double tie breakers. we just got a retarded easy tie breaker last round that could've been a round 2 song pick where other people would've been pulling AAA's. but to go from Dragon's Bane to Winnipeg is ****ing dumb in my opinion.

Is the jump a bit stupid? Yes I agree. The goal is balance. The better player will always get the better score on the higher song. That's just how it is.

and middie is an idiot for picking it as a tiebreaker for round 1 in D3.

I get it you hate the tiebreaker rules. But don't tell me you were blind sighted by the fact there's a 12, when the OP states pretty clearly that tiebreakers are final difficulty +1 and I was even kind enough this time around to post the final difficulties.

Middie probably just chose this so the tourney could continue.

I personally think Middie's a great Tourney host. Matched us up quite well.

I can't say I don't understand his frustration, but I also can't say it's stupid because everyone who actually read the whole OP should be clear of how it works. I don't waste my time trying to think of all the outcomes for people to get blind sighted. Everything you need to know is in the OP.

Only made that comment cause he said something in prochat about me being one of the few to not call him a terrible host. I felt obligated to come here and call him one. And while I do feel we were a good match for each other, there are limits.

there's a transition period between separate divisions for a reason... hell why do you think YOSHl is in D3 with us? he has Oni, shouldn't he be at least D4?

I mean... fuck, picking a song like this doesn't feel like a fair end to the battle we've been having at all. you may as well say YOSHl is D2 cause the rest of his scores don't say D3 or higher, then get in a AAA tiebreaker two times in a row, and then give them an FMO jacking song as a tiebreaker in D2.

it just doesn't fucking make any sense. you'd maybe think that you'd give the person YOSHl is facing a *chance* at beating him.

in my metaphor, you are YOSHl and can jack. middie gave us a jacking song, and i'm a D2 player that can't jack. so yes... i'm mad i have no chance of redeeming myself from this tie breaker, but i don't want to continue bitching about it ~_~

First off, YOSHl clearly proved to me that unless the song is mostly jacks, he won't rape the shit out of it. He sucks at literally every other pattern. He's actually a really easy opponent. Plus there's the rule of which I can veto song picks. In his case I would take high consideration to vetoing a song that has a lot of longer jacks in it. There are rules in place to balance things like this.

On the note of someone saying I was a shitty host: This person was pretty upset at his song choice as well. Even though his stats show he should, in theory, be very even with his opponent on it.

I will not change the tiebreaker rule though. This is the only way I feel to guarantee a non tie breaking result, without a landslide victory. This rule is based off the assumption that you've been placed in the correct division. The only time this rule has a flaw is if I've misplaced you, which in that case, I have been a bad host.

In short (tl;dr): I'm not mad at Zero at all, I understand where he's coming from. It's things like this that help me to be a better host to you guys. As for how it went down, I might be a little less likely to use the DF engine for tie breakers so I can check your stats next go around so that it seems more fair song choice wise.

I don't give easy wins in my tournies, you have to work hard for them. I'm going to keep it that way.

Wow. So much text, not enough scores. I would've probably read all of this even though it's total "csb" if I was home but thank God I got lost in a forest for 10 hours, even though I almost ended up eating one of my friends cause I was ****ing hungry.

Actually I knew. I joked with him that I was gonna extend the round a day but he said no.

I also don't remember if he asked for for an extension so if he needed/wanted one he'd be able to take it.
