Kay so I've been thinking of something that relates to volleyball (my fave sport of all time). And I was thinking that I would try to run something like a club volleyball season. I still need to fix this up a bit, but this is how it will start:
First I divide all the entrants into 3-4 groups.
Tier A
Player1
Player2
Player3
Player4
Player5
Player6
Player7
Player8
Tier B
Player1
Player2
Player3
Player4
Player5
Player6
Player7
Player8
Tier C
Player1
Player2
Player3
Player4
Player5
Player6
Player7
Player8
Tier D
Player1
Player2
Player3
Player4
Player5
Player6
Player7
Player8
Each Tier will be divided into 2 pools (you only play the people in your pool).
There will be a round robin playing against all the people in your pool. After this the players in Pool A and Pool B will be ranked A1, A2, B4 etc. based on their record in the pool play. Ties will be broken by the differences in scores between you and your opponent.
After this the top 2 players from each tier will be placed into Tier 1, 3rd and 4th into Tier 2, 5th and 6th into Tier 3, and 7th and 8th into Tier 4. Note that the placements aren't final. There will be 4-5 tournaments throughout this season, in each successive tournament, the top 2 from each tier go up a tier (tier 1 stays) and the bottom 2 from each tier go down a tier (tier 4 stays). 3rd-6th remain in the same tier. The top 3 players in each tier will receive a small amount of credits in these tournaments (to represent medals), but the final tournament will have big(ger) prizes.
The season will be relatively long, I don't know how long it would go right now, but I'll make a spreadsheet for this with tiers, pools, players, and schedule of who you're playing when. Hopefully it will help.
It may seem confusing to you right now, but as it goes along you will get the hang of it. I'll try to help everyone out by answering any questions. This is exactly how my volleyball season is run, so I know pretty well what's happening. We can see the improvements of many players over time if we use this idea.
Comments? Suggestions? Criticisms? I would like to hear from everyone on FFR of what they think of this idea.

Oh yeah, forgot, my tournament is huge uber pwnage out the max hardcore slaughterer of all other unofficial tournaments. XD So yeah, I'd wait till the credits are distributed then try and beat my record credit pot.
I had 1.05 mil before you came in and stole my record
