no u just suc, k
I didn't say it wasn't, I was giving it as an example for a counter-point. Easily misinterpretable I guess.*shrug*

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I don't think they're fun at all. They don't flow.
Well then maybe you actually tried to make it fun. The thing is, with most dump files, people do so much layering that PR becomes something so invisible that it can hardly be accounted for. And, it is easy to make one. It's much harder to make a stepfile that tastefully steps to things musically important without being boring or understepped.Last edited by Zybanthia; 01-23-2009, 02:24 PM.Comment

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
And it depends on the dump and the skill of the player whether or not a dump flows well.
Also depends on the type of dump.
Hey you edited no fair. I only put jumps to BD and synth instead of that +snare. I also didn't use jacks to make it easier. In retrospect I'm sad I put in the '128ths'. But whatever.
I should edit out SD's part, make the changes I want to make and release it for sm, but then I'd guess it'd be just like jimerax's.
I somehow doubt they'd be as fun in FFR but I'm sure we'll see eventually.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
Oh, well there you go, I'm talking about technical dumps. That's kind of the only dump that exists in my mind... even though I'm sure the term can be used in other ways. I'm talking about dumps like Death Piano, RATO, etc. If you didn't layer to something blu, then it's not the kind of dump I'm talking about... then again, there are plenty of files that aren't dumps that still don't flow just because of layering. And while some of that has to do with skill level... some of it doesn't. Because there are things I feel have no fun factor or flow whatsoever, and I AAA them in a couple games.
I'm not necessarily saying that these are bad files though. Plenty of them were done correctly. I'd just always rather play something that's fun than technically correct because I don't care much to ogle at somebody's stepping ability.Comment

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
He means Magical 8-bit Tour.
Ninja'd!
And Zybanthia I guess you mean files have the least replay value because of the overlayered (or just too consistently layered). Seems like you're talking about behan again haha.
I mean, even NNT flows even though it's a mega-dump of technical-ness (it could be more technical tho..), the first version anyways.
P.S. I don't talk about my files all the time because I'm particularly proud, just because I know them the best.

Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread
I don't get a sense of arrogance from you anyway, blu.
Well, sometimes I try to be tactful, and other times I just let loose... but I wasn't particularly talking about behan's files when I mentioned the dumps. Granted, I don't think his files flow or have any fun value at all, and I don't play them again when I AAA them... but he really wasn't the topic here, hahaha. While you're bringing him up, though...
Anyway, I'll just have to wait until NNT becomes public (unless I'm behind and it is). I like to keep up with the files released here and play everything. Plus, I usually enjoy your files, blu.Comment
