Re: A List of ALL the Songs in the FFR Queue
Hmm, 0/3 for me in this batch. That's disappointing. I question if Tass knows what he's actually doing. I certainly know that it's legitimate to reject a file for framer reasons (or other FFR engine related problems) but by refining a simfile to the point where it's devoid (or lacks in general) of originality in arrow patterns is an outcome he might not have saw.
For example, my Lapis file was +ed by the other judges, but Tass rejected it because of the small 16th jumpstreams at the beginning and end of the song. While this makes the song slightly more difficult, it creates some nice variety and is perfectly legitimate. Without it, I'd have to refine it to jumps independent of the 16th streams. which then is certainly not anything new or exciting.
It also helps to have some musical knowledge or at least simfile creating, and I question whether Tass has a decent amount of either of those criteria (Free Space doesn't count
).
Twinklesky was rejected for possible 3 framers. Not that I would've like to change it, but for framer reasons, I'd have no problem with that.
As for {Flying Away}, I'm not going to bother lol. Chances of getting that into the queue is low.
I'm also going to sign Hammy petition, again on the basis of questioning Tass's "valid" knowledge of simfile judging.
And Tass, as for the song styles that I haven't categorized yet, give me a bit of time, if possible. I have a midterm coming up already this week. :/
edit: On closer inspection, I see that Tass actually never touched my simfiles because "both judges said the same comments on the files". REGARDLESS, you should look into ones that were +ed at least (both +ed for lapis). If a simfile is +ed by both judges, and you perceive any "negative aspects" of their comments, you can surely infer that those negative aspects were not major enough to completely ignore the simfile on your part. Please take this into consideration.Last edited by bmah; 09-24-2007, 11:01 PM.Comment

Re: A List of ALL the Songs in the FFR Queue
Funny how Silver_Brian can get away with this exact same thing. Several of his files (R3 is a great example) have small areas of jumpstream that make the file significantly harder. There's definitely some major inconsistency there. For example, my Lapis file was +ed by the other judges, but Tass rejected it because of the small 16th jumpstreams at the beginning and end of the song. While this makes the song slightly more difficult, it creates some nice variety and is perfectly legitimate. Without it, I'd have to refine it to jumps independent of the 16th streams. which then is certainly not anything new or exciting.Comment

Tass, remove my file from the batch.
I kinda figured out that the speakers built in to my monitor are homo pieces of **** that barely register strong back beats and that I apparently missed some stuff in my file.
Maybe I'll finish the revisions tomorrow before this batch is closed.Comment

Re: A List of ALL the Songs in the FFR Queue
bmah: none of your files were really my call in decision making... please don't go questioning my ability as a judge over your being upset at the results of your file in 1 batch. and i was QUITE clear as to why i didn't play certain files... i was a bit upset at the leniency in judging from both rebirth and jx, and as such, any file where both noted the same issue was auto-rejected by me. i've been doing this long enough to know that if both of my judges tell me the same thing is wrong with a file, 99% of the time i'm going to agree with them and not queue it anyway.
and in regards to silver brian... stepfile judging is an evolving process. we're judging a bit differently than we did a month ago or 6 months ago. it evolves based upon the standards we want to set in our files as well as the feedback we're seeing from the users.RIPComment

Re: A List of ALL the Songs in the FFR Queue
talking about the leniency/strictness..
I don't think I did a lenient judgement but maybe lenient about "giving +", because I (and maybe Rebirth) took "overall quality system" for the judgement instead of "bad mark system" which Tass used for the judgement (also I used this long time ago).
If I'm going to be more strict on overall system, ambiguous reasons like "not enough good" or "could be better" "don't like much" will be frequently used for rejection (Simfile submitters will be even more dissatisfied with the judgement).Comment
