I think I was credited as JoshTX or something. I might have been credited as Arch0wl. It was one of those two though.

Ah - I'm wondering which charts were yours now...

I had fun testing the game, the overall concept is great; I saw quite a bit of interest after our second day. Definitely an experience I won't forget...I was just shocked when they presented me with the opportunity -- pretty sure I was the strongest no-bar player out of the entire group, although I have to say, some of the charts are kinda rough for a game geared toward fitness (We Met Dat Night...I should slap Kurisu for that chart).

I'll stop derailing the thread with my iDance memories now.

Might as well make the qualifications to be any type of judge(even backup) that all you need to know how to do is open the SM editor because thats seem to be like all you need to know how to do now. >_>

                  I have an idea.

Maybe we can get a subscriber feature in here . If a file gets rated well enough maybe you can then let all FFR veterans play the song (simular to subscriber songs) and they can give feedback to how they thought of the song (whether it was fun, synced, awkward patterns, etc.) Then if it passed the judges and lots of FFR Veterans enjoyed it (since they have play the game for 3 years so they have played mostly ever song in the game by now). This is also handy because you will have all kinds of people who like different play style and song genres (burst, trills, jumpstream, rock, techno, classic, etc) give there opinion.

Just wanted to shoot an idea out there that just popped in my head.
Best AAA = Aballava(?) + Serious Shit (97)
Best SDG = Fushigi Usagi Milk Tei 8-0-0-3 (101)
                  Best Score = do i smile? 3-0-0-3 (100)

then it would have to pass two things to get into FFR?
i could never judge an FFR file, i barely can tell what people mean when they say a file is bad.. i have no idea why, ever. i think sticking with just the FFR judges judging FFR files is a good idea.

This will unfortunately allow bias/subjectivity become a major issue yet again because users might reject a file for an irrelevant reason when judges might be against a particular file, and use those reasons for rejecting a file.

The way that I see it, the only opinions that should be factored into judging a file is your own, which is why the notes should all be released at once when everyone finishes, to avoid that bias. Just one of the many potential situations.

                          Re: Queue/Batch Discussion Thread

The problem with letting players judge files is that their bias is even more extreme than the average sim author's, but in a different way: although they have no preference for any sort of stepping style, they certainly have preferences for certain types of patterns. Indexers, for example, would rate down severely any file which has a lot of doublesteps. But doublesteps are very much part of the game, and you can't just outlaw a pattern just because it's slightly uncomfortable for you. The doublesteps in Vanish Into Thin Air for example were what made the file so satisfying to get a good score on.

This happens in ITG as well. In my pad charts I will often insert PIUesque difficulty spikes in my song that make it interesting to AAA/FC even if most of the song is easy for you. ITG players, though, are not used to difficulty spikes and hate them. A lot. But I think these add an interesting play dynamic. Look at this Vertex^2 video, or this Legend of Max video. Both of these charts make you anticipate what's coming next -- "how will he do on THIS part? OH SHIT!" -- but if the whole song is static in difficulty, you just look at it and say "wow" and that's the extent of it.

These aspects of gameplay would be totally gone if everyone who plays the game was allowed to judge, because most people are not good at them. They judge in their self-interest -- what they're good at, what's comfortable to them, etc. -- and not what makes for the most interesting experience once everything is said and done.

Why putting up the songs in a special genre and having the community pick which songs to stay and which to go is a bad idea that won't work: THE BATCHES USUALLY CONTAIN UPWARDS OF 70 FILES

I have to admit that the idea of difficulty spikes is more appealing to me than it used to be
I think what you don't want, though, is the opposite of a difficulty spike - a boring bit
