Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
Ah, that's the thing - Metro is 300 bpm on the dot, meaning all frame placements are consistent. All 16ths would either be 1 frame intervals or 2 frame intervals depending on the conversion, all 8ths are 3 frames apart, all 12ths 2 frames apart, and all 24ths 1 frame apart.
Even when it was organized and nice with the BPM, it still got a lot of heat. Rarely will a 13 make it if it's going to be a huge framer mess along with anchors like RATO haha.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
well here's the way I look at it (in b4 elitist ******, etc.)
rubix perf'd the game aside from RATO and vrofl, and dossar's damn close to accomplishing the same thing...samurai, xayphon, and halo probably have between 15-20 songs un-AAA'd to derp around with (just throwing a range out there, don't sue me if I'm off by a bit
) and then there's a bunch of other top tier players, including myself, who have 50 or less
also 90%+ of players spend the majority of their time on FFR playing the files which they haven't AAA'd as opposed to ones that they already have
now I can't speak on behalf of the other guys but I'd rather have something like 200+ songs to try and derp around with to improve on a consistent basis, and that's pretty much only possible by adding in some songs that aren't going to be AAA'd, or hell maybe even FC'd
I realize this neglects the opinions of some of the mid/low-tier players that absolutely despise 13s, but I've gotta say that the game gets really damn boring when you get to this point...I can only imagine how dossar feels lmao

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
I happen to enjoy files in the 7-11 range. I can only take so much of having to rage through 12s. I personally think it's a better idea to add enjoyable files that 95% of the community can enjoy, rather than adding key-destroying FGO+ files that only 5% of the community will enjoy. A rare insertion of a ridiculous file is alright, but bombarding with 12+ files will frustrate players who are still trying to work toward level ranks.Comment

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
I think I've finally realized why rubix quit. He had RATO left, as the only un-AAA'd song. FFR must've been very boring to him at that point lol.
I'd rather see songs that are AAA'able, but only by a few top tier players. I was really happy that Gunkienen Tar was released. I played that crap like 200 times and missflagged it -_-
But, am I the only one who hates FSO's? I don't see the point in even trying to FC RATO and DP. mash mash mash..... And I'm not that bad at FFR.I have a dig bick.Comment

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
A new tournament just got approved and it also includes using other settings like split, scroll right, etc. this is a good break from just simply trying to normally score the best on the ol' typical run of the mill FFR file.
My tournament (and there will be another one) basically reinforced OWA's explanation. The files aren't in the actual game which is why it's a good idea haha. I will admit it is really ****ing aggravating when it only takes one anchoring pattern of some sort (or a bad difficulty spike) to make an AAA impossible.
Also All-Pro, with the community explanation I've looked at, Marcus actually does have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (and a pretty bad case of it too), but I don't want to go further than that right now.Last edited by DossarLX ODI; 07-10-2011, 10:17 PM.Originally posted by hi19hi19oh boy, it's STIFF, I'll stretch before I sit down at the computer so not I'm not as STIFF next time I step a fileComment

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
There are a handful of great FGO files that are consistently difficult and offer a no-BS, play-strong-to-AAA style, but there are others that are just downright frustrating to play. I can't take more than 5 plays of grind2 before I start spewing rage/expletives, etc. Same thing with Schmollbluk, CCCP (although this is moreso due to horrible habits), RAN, Tell v3 (17 arrow 16th up jack layered with more stuff? areushr), Almost There, Magical 8 Bit Tour...
...so many files that just require luck behind them. Then, there's files that are just genuinely difficult that force you to be consistently good, or consistently horrible. I enjoy Kidney Stone, Frictional Nevada, Ketsarku, Winter Wind Etude (read: don't hate, in this particular instance)..etc.Comment

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
To be fair, that file WAS extremely difficult and jacky - something more like midare's mid difficulty charts would probably get results like +/--/+./-
I can't say as far as PAing or FCing, but Metro is a lot less brutal to simply play through.Best AAA: Policy In The Sky [Oni] (81)
Best SDG: PANTS (86)
Best FC: Future Invasion (93)Comment

Oh I despise them. If you can't mash/vibrate (me) it doesn't just destroy your level ranks, but there's not point and it's not fun. Unless you are in .01% of the community, FSO's aren't about skill, they're about mashing, which I hate and think is pointless. I enjoy 10-11 by far the most, I can AAA nearly all of them, doesn't make it less fun, that's where it's the right balance of fun, cool, enjoyable files and skill. Low FGO's are really nice, but lately all FGO's except the recent one are like Schmollbluk, Rage Template, and Winter Wind, it's becoming ridiculous to even have fun with them. And if you're too good for everything in this game (rubix), move to stepmania and don't complain (which he hasn't). We release songs every week, so you can still comeback and AAA them, maybe you'll find a high FGO, who knows, and then go back to SM. It doesn't mean that you have to wreck the game for everyone who isn't around your level by filling it with crap files for unfun songs.I think I've finally realized why rubix quit. I'm currently using 1.7x because 1.75x has a decimal C mod, and I thought it would screw me up, however 1.7x has led to goods on perfect hits occasionally, and I wonder if that's frames now.Last edited by HammyMcSquirrel; 07-11-2011, 10:45 AM. I used to get mad at my school (No, I can't complain)
The teachers who taught me weren't cool (No, I can't complain)

Re: FFR Scores ~2011 Remix~
wow, I usually just lurk and don't post much, but what a selfish argument. You always seem to base these things around yourself (including the file difficulties, as I've noticed, as much as you like to say that you're objectively rating the files)Oh I despise them. If you can't mash/vibrate (me) it doesn't just destroy your level ranks, but there's not point and it's not fun. I think you're among the elite players if you can AAA 10-11s. I would think that the large majority of players can't even begin to FC most 10s and 11s; yet, do we refuse to let 10s and 11s into the game? Obviously not. Just because you don't enjoy these kinds of files doesn't mean that others don't.
Your argument could easily be made by anyone of any skill level. A less skilled player might as well say that YOU should just move on to SM... and maybe you should, if you like to complain so much >.>
...just take it easy and enjoy the game hahaComment
