I set a 7x7x7 Rubik's cube world record!

Last week I went to a cube competition and set an official world record for solving the 7x7x7 cube as fast as possible. By 'official world record' I mean that the World Cube Association recognized it, and that it was done at a competition with a judge making sure I didn't cheat - you can't just sit in your room and take a time by yourself

I actually got the record for both the single solve (4 minutes 16.47 seconds) and the mean of 3 solves (4 minutes 31.26 seconds). There's a video of the fastest solve I did here - it's not too high quality, unfortunately, you can't really see what I'm doing very well.

The old time was 4:49 single and 4:52 mean of 3, so I beat the previous single time by over 30 seconds There are still a bunch of people who are a little faster than me out there, but I really don't think the single record will ever be beaten by 30 seconds again.

I solve 4x4x4 in 3 minutes, and 5x5x5 in 8 minutes.

Can't imagine how fast did you have to solve 7x7x7 in 4 minutes. o_O..

and also you have to learn how to find pieces fast enough that you can keep turning without stopping. (That's the hardest part, it really takes a lot of practice.)
