Yes - some simfiles actually call for it.. and that's okay, but complete stream sims like One More Lovely and Quasar are extremely boring over 4 arrows. Now that I think on it Rev. Etude used quite a bit of patterns.. in sequences of over 2-4 bars I believe. I wanted to switch to making doubles simfiles just because of the extra room you get for patterns.. it would be a lot of fun to make a doubles simfile. There's other ways to make stream songs like Quasar fun.. insert 8th patterns between 16th streams and such - of course they have to be going to some part of the music otherwise it just seems like it's "there".

Yeah, I've always been dissapointed in the lack of room for creativity. Making steps to a game like O2 Jam would be a lot of fun.

It is, but you have a lot of pressure on you because you have to fit a standard for a serious video game. Considering O2Jam is in THREE World Cyber Games competitions (Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, maybe more), this is like the equivelant of making steps for DDR Ultramix. It's a pretty big thing. You also have to MAKE SURE that the patterns you're making go as close to the music as possible, which takes a lot of re listening and such.
