Not BS. I had it on the different score setting, 5th mix, go see for yourself. I had to take it off and I remembered after that song. I was playing smlan and everyone was like " Dude WTF is wrong with your stepmania" and I figured out that that was it so I switched it back to Max 2.

5th mix counted jump steps as one, even at the total combo ending.
