This is very similar to a list I made on June 03 on AIM. I'm only posting it because it's funny that this topic came up after I made this list:

Snapps.... what do you think the FFR League is? yes its on FFR not SM... and yes the majority of the big guns don't play in it.... but that is there choice. Linus is the champ from season 1, and will likely win again in season 2....

A good way of determining who's the best eh? I have an idea and it goes like this:

- It starts out with 1 organiser, someone who's not participating, but is well trusted.
- the organiser picks 3-5 songs that people who wish to participate will play. which range in different step patterns that are each unique to the last
- everyone who participates must play all the songs.
- once everyone's done playing they submit the screenshots to the organiser.
- Then a point system comes in. lets say.... marvs = 4, perfs = 3, greats = 1.
Out of all the songs the person plays, the points are totaled and that's used for ranks.

Sounds simple enough to work.

and for an extra, you can have 4 divisions of styles of playing: 4 finger/2 hand, 2 finger/opposite hands, one hand, one and 1/2 hands (one finger on one hand, three on the other). Then one division for everyone.

I don't know... it's just an idea that a couple of people have probably already thought of... but I might aswell say it

So we make a little SM tourney once.

Yes, we know there is an FFR league, and its definantly not SM. But the SM tourney is just an...extra bonus. We should only do it once, probably once a year, because people dont get great in over night.

So once we do this, we can determine the SM, like you said, "big guns." And the people that compete get into this get into this little thing called the "me>you>loser scale" (or whatever its called). And then it will be in FFR somewhere..that shows the people from the FFR Forum and their scale of "me>you>loser".

But then again, It's just me talking. You dont really have to follow this.

We already know who are the near best, and this little 5 song competition thingy won't determine shit. I just know who is better than who. I see the scores, I know what everyone can do. The only people I don't know well are those below Jello. I'm a little shady on aperson, and I've only seen select things from Arch0wl and Jello. Otherwise, I have a real good idea of where everyone stands.

There's a close gap between 1-6. Just like Privateer who doesn't brag for a while but when he does, you'll see why I put him in there. linus and aperson is good at speed reading but aperson has better MA. Reach and Arch0wl changes music speed at insane rates and are good at it.

The only thing arch can beat me at is quasar and like...reality. Maybe a couple other goodies.

But whatever. Theres plenty of good players, I don't like comparing that much. Plus theres always songs somebody can beat you at.
