It took all the best stepmania players years to get to where they are now. What's interesting about VerTex is how high his threshold is in such a short amount of time.
By threshold I mean that doing a stream 300 or below he doesn't need to put nearly as much effort, but if that stream was just a little higher in speed he'd be deteriorating much faster.
Honestly though 3 months is absolutely nothing and I agree with Choofers on that statement. It destroys everyone else's improvement rates by light years -- but what really stands out here is the threshold, being able to sustain that speed like a comfort zone for a very long period of time (almost passing 22.5 minutes of 296 BPM 16ths, he lasted around 20 and a half minutes).

That jump from B to AA is probably more of a technique change more than anything (along with a speed boost), his keytaps became a lot softer than before
index im sure is a lot about technique (and speed too) and it's probably way easier to improve on a song like disregard to an AAA as opposed to something like improving a B to AA on identity part 2
like, honestly speaking there isn't much pattern variety you can have with index (disregard is stream and some jumps)
but the speed is definitely impressive (? )
What Eze said is also a good point. Staiain might have been pressing the keys too hard (he did tell me he naturally hit the keys too hard and that made him lose too much stamina) but VerTex's technique hasn't really changed, VerTex just has a very high threshold.

From my experience it depends a lot on what your threshold is for index. A slight increase in speed can make you fail a song much faster.
